Okay so I'm completely new to using dolphin but I do have a working rom and dolphin installed. Yes, I do own a physical copy of melee. I was wondering how I can play online with others. I seen information about the HUB but that doesn't seem to be in place anymore. I would also like a save game state that everyone is using. Thanks for any help

So if I read all that (Which I didn't) and understood is that it is possible and being worked on? The HUB idea sounded easy but is there a specific address I need to put in so i can see others games. Is this running now with netplay? or are people using something else?

Ok so how are people playing it online now? I keep seeing things about playing online and would like to play? How are they doing this. I guess my post wasn't geared for just using netplay. I Just want to play online with others.

Okay I'm sorry that you guys are getting mad but that still doesn't answer my question. I see videos online of people playing an emulator to play melee online. I have bookmarked the other thread so I can check it out. You guys don't have to be such *******s.

Well, think about it for like 3 seconds straight. Might there be the off chance that *gasp* we might be interested in such a thing, and would actually sticky all the information if there was anything interesting?
Nah, why would we? Would only help us play some more with people we don't get to play regularly, what good is that?

Do you think you are the first who gets the idea? And there are not like 20 threads about this already, where at some points somebody explains in great detail why netplay melee doesn't work, which you *gasp* could read?

edit: to put it blunt: you've even received the link from somebody; and your thanks to his time which he donated to you by looking it up, is to state "lol tl;dr, post whats liek important and **** since I can't be bothered 2 do so lol"? And you've got the nerve to complain about somebody getting slightly annoyed at you?

People are being mean to you because:
a) People gave you an answer and you admitted you didn't even bother to read the whole thing. Disrespectful.
b) This topic comes up all the time.

Now, read this whole thing:
You're talking about something like this. This video is playing pretty lagless with no desync. The thing is, they are using a "buffer" to keep it like that, which reduces the control you have over your character and just feels meh. This is a mostly competitive smash community. So that stuff is not acceptable. This video also is missing characters like Game and Watch, Peach, and Luigi who have randomized moves which could desync the game. Also, these guys have great computer speeds, and it's unclear if they are even separated by a decent distance and how their internet speed is. We are uninterested in this because its just not like being in the same room, but if you want to play someone on some meh online service the tutorial is in the description of that video. Knock yourself out. (you'll have to find someone to play though)

As for the rest of us, we'll wait for a quality release.

Perfect. Thank you stratocaster! That was the answer i was looking for and unfortunately could not find a video explaining in detail. I understand the post that i was linked was for lagless games. I to would like to play competitively but wouldn't know where to start. I just wanted to play with a couple friends for fun nothing to serious. My apologies for stating that I didn't read the post. I was in the process of reading and was summarizing what I had seen. I did in fact read the post and didn't get the answer i was seeking. The post simply says that it cannot be played properly. So thank you for linking the video and once again I apologize to all the angry kids I made upset this evening. And yes this is sarcasm I know that not everyone on the internet is a child :awesome:

Well yeah, but I just thought he should've gotten the message after the first two "it's not possible at the moment".

Yes, online melee would be nice. But in the meantime, why not find players in your local area and make new friends instead?

Getting people to become smashers is as easy as finding gamers and inviting them over for pizza. If I had friends, that's totally what I would do.

There unfortunately isn't a community in my area that actually plays this game. There is a lot of street fighters here but no melee players. I used to play melee all the time when I was in school but haven't got to play with anyone since.
