Does anyone still play the actual 64 version?

I'm just curious as to how alone I am in my N64 playing because when I come on here it seems that most of the threads are about playing online or on the wii.

Online mode is great for playing people around lots of places but its fake, but if you can play with other people on the N64, online is no match.

I agree.
However if you have dial-up it's pretty much impossible to play smash...or anything else online.

I had the offline version since it came out....by Matt wanted to use it so I don't have it anymore. I dislike using the n64 controller besides for puzzle/racing games.

The majority of my smash 64 experience is on the Nintendo 64... I find it near unplayable on any other set up...

Too bad I'm so bad at it anyway...

Probably going to order smash 64 for the N 64 soon... Used to rent it from the video game renting store only..

I do. In fact, we had a tournament here at Temple the first week of classes. But most are casual players. It's our favorite smash game so it's highly welcomed here.

I haven't seen any live 64 tournaments around where I live though. Maybe during winter break...

I got my group of Melee friends to pick up 64. I can't play online because our internet does not work for me for some reason, so I have to steal the neighbors' internet, and it is not very reliable due to the poor connection.

I was playing it just yesterday. I haven't played it for ages. Brings back great memories. Too bad I don't own it :(. I'm about to just order it online since I can't find it anywhere.

Off course I do! I don't understand how people manage to play SSB64 with a keyboard. SSB64 on the 64=rapetastic win.
Only problem is that the controllers get worn out so easily... I have like 6 controllers, whereas 3 of them are good (2 of those are really good). 2 work, technically, but they're so worn out that you can barely even dash. 1 of them doesn't work at all (you can barely walk with it)

My controllers are fine & they're like 10 years old.
What that means is you dont know how to tell the diffrence (either that or you dont play N64)

How long does it take the stick to return to Neutral once you let it go?
DOES it return to neutral when you let it go, or does it kind of fall a bit in one direction?
Do you have to smash the directions to get your smash attacks (no pun intended)? Or is a light press adequate?
Is it hard to DI off of walls effectively?

These are some of the less obvious things you may want to look for

I still play the n64. It's the only way to play the game 100% without cheats or bypasses like on emulators. Only problem is my SSB cartridge fryed and now i'm stuck. hehe.

Anyone in Montreal still plays the 64 version on the console ??

Montreal actually has quite a bit of ssb64 smashers.

I think it's like... 4. Which is, surprisingly enough, quite big for ssb64 players in one area.

I'm starting a Smash club at my university, and through some Facebook research, I've discovered A LOT of people who still play N64 smash here.

Problem is... From what I've heard so far, I have little doubt that the competition will be weak. High time to host a tourney for cash prize then!

We Miamians have our own dialect. We say f*** you and s***.

Speaking of which, apparently someone in school is selling their N64 + SSB64 for $20. As I can't be bothered using the illegals Wii method, that means YES!

I still do... and plays it at least every other day :D

Usually every now and then me and a friend gets his N64 and we will play it...

I never played it online so I wouldn't know about that...
