I'm going to try this. I am pretty technical with Doc, and I will keep on practicing. But I'm not smart. So, I'm going to try and post a general character case construction, merely telling me/you the position of the opponent (I wonder if I should put my own position too) and what options they have available to them, and then what doc can counter with, if he can.

I want to think better, and I am better with thoughts on paper, not any other way. So, here goes, please let me know if I'm not doing well or something. Thanks! I'll probaly need help, since there might be thinkgs I have not thought of thoughrouly enough.

I am not the best, and I probaly am not that good with case constructions, but I'm trying anyways. I hope it somehow would help. I just like having a list of what to do and not to do, you know?

(gonna edit)

Case 1 - General Character (Any)

Position - Air;

Opponent Character can -

Come down with an aerial attack (up to four)
come down with a special attack (depends on character)
Fast fall
Land
Waveland
airdodge
double jump (if character has one left, look if he/she jumped once or twice)

next position - Ground;

Opponent Character can -

Attack with a standard attack
Attack with a smash attack
Dash
Dash Dance
Dash attack
Hold a smash attack and let go
Use a special attack
Jump (Short Hop, Full Hop)
Shield
Wavedash
Spotdodge
Crouch
Move
Grab

next position - On the edge;

Opponent Character can -

Drop down and fall (accident maybe)
drop down and get back on
drop down and then jump (can wavedash onto ground or attack onto ground after jumping)
Recover attack
Roll
Edge Hog
Drop down and quickly attack a character behind her/him trying to recover

next position - Near the edge[edgeguarding];

Opponent Character can -

Attack with a standard attack
Attack with a special attack
Attack with a smash attack
Grab [if recovering character doesn't sweetspot]
Shield
SpotDodge

(should I keep near the edge? :/ )

next position - off the edge

Opponent Character can -

Use a special attack (probaly to recover)
Grab the edge
attack while coming back to edge/stage

So what do you think? Am I going in the right direction? Any advice on how I should go towards making a specific character case? Or should I think of more things to put in the general case? I'm sure there are many many things to consider in Melee but maybe I'm not thinking of them.

Idk, this stuff is too much read. Even though I'm not that good, I do know that a chart can't teach u smash, practice vs. people does.

Yeah, well its not teaching you stuff. This should be stuff you already know, but just WHaT CAN MY OPPONENT DO TO ME SO I CAN COUNTER

Character beats character with moves.
**** it! xD

Oh, right of course. But would you be thinking that while playing agaisnt someone really good? I'd probaly thing cape, but then they can fake you out and come in. That is why I am practicing powershielding, since its faster.
