like he is able to tech things that i wouldn't be able to tech because i just hit L/R

Yeah, he tech's really well. I bet he does use this technique.

Any other things you wish you did right from the start?
I kinda regret not learning to wavedash and shield with different buttons.

I never use the L button. I do everything with R. (shield, wavedash, L cancel)

Way too late for me to change. But I may try using the Z button more often to L cancel...
