I don't know. Today's update were crates and barrels. I know, not a big deal, but the idea of the changing designs would have been a nice touch to see when I first turn on the game. It makes me think that if we see too much, maybe Brawl won't be able to match the hype of the game.

you're probably right. if we get to see all game-modes too, the motivation for ssbb won't last long, since there's nothing new to explore.
on the other hand - noone coerces you to look at the site every day.. but it's extremly hard to resist 8[

btw. i dislike the barrel-outfit-change.. in yoshi's world they look stupid..

I suppose they won't neccessarily release every last tid-bit of info, and my guess is big changes won't be shown, but nice, cute, kinda things that keep your interest going will be shown.

I wish I could see a lot more, but i only say that because I can't wait till the game. I still think Brawl will match the hype cause the developers of melee and the first super smash were very creative, they stuck in some nice easter eggs, glitches, surprises....ect. I don't think they will fail us now. I think they'll be able to keep secrets and don't show us what's in the game before it's released. What if these things they are showing us is the smallest of what they can offer and there might be some BIG surprises coming in brawl.

They have lots of stuff they'll keep from us. For example, the Final Smashes; I wager that they'll only show a handful (maybe 5 or less) before the games is released, leaving us to enjoy the rest of them when we play for the first time. I think they're doing a good job keeping some big things under wraps and still giving us fun information to chat about.

Dude, are you kidding me? I've been playing Melee since DAY 1, and I play religiously. I play just about everyday, usually for a few hours. Yet, I continue to find new things I never saw before. I continue to learn different things about the game. Seriously, if Melee is that huge, I can't even begin to imagine all the stuff in Brawl.

Let's put it this way... Have you read every single trophy? Have you done it recently enough so that you know what all the trophies are from? Here's a big question: Have you ever used an Action Replay to play multiplayer on the target stages? Have you played on the debug stage with the picture of the bar in the background? Have you played 6-player Melee with 3 friends yet?

There's probably a lot you and I have not explored in just Melee. If they gave us an EPIC update everyday, and didn't release the game for another two years, we might know 30% of it. But as it stands, I've been playing their older game everyday for six years, spending hours on end with it, and I still find new, cool things. (For example, today I found out that Peach's trophy has rendered panties under her dress. XP)

Nintendo is always going to leave you to discover things on your own. Especially the locked characters, new strats gamemodes etc. I am so excited about brawl that I can't get it out of my thoughts and everyday conversation. The updates don't deter the hype for me. It is all about the online play.

What you can try is... if you have a friend that also checks smashbros.com, You can ask him/her if anything worth reading is on today. Worth reading/possibly spoil suprises/must know info/etc etc

if i recall correctly, the melee update site did not reveal secret levels or secret characters, they'll probably do the same with the brawl site. So don't worry.

i think sakurai has already thought of this, and he will leave a lot of major things we haven't even thought of thinking of for after the release date. (at least i hope because i can't stop myself from checking the site)

They are totally blue balling us with this site
HA! nice choice of words. couldn't have said it better myself.

The update today was pretty cool. So apparently we can stand on the crates now, and they got different skins to match the level. Nice...

Still think we need a new character or two...

If you don't want things spoiled, don't look at the site. Simple as that.

Quoted for truth.

And to answer your question : No I don't think we're seeing too much. Smash isn't about seeing new things, it's purely 100% about how the gameplay works, to me anyway.

That is true, but as lex.aut said, it's still very tempting. I haven't decided yet If I want to stop.

I somewhat agree. I'm looking forward to everything as a whole for now, but I'm sure later on when everything has been seen and tried, I'm going to 100% agree with you.

By the time I get to play the game, half America and a Dutch gaming magazine have spoiled all secrets for me anyway.

When Brawl comes out, it'll still be full of surprises. Even if we learn about everything available from the beginning, Smash Bros is renowned for having a ridiculous amount of unlockable stuff. Dozens of characters, stages, and game modes will be unlocked through playing the game and will be plenty surprising. Actually, once the game comes out in any form, Smashbros.com will be about the only place you won't have every surprised ruined for you. I really don't want to know what all the secret characters are before I ever play the game (like what happened in the first two), but if I look on these boards, probably as early as weeks before it ever launches, I'm sure it'll be thrown in my face at least 30 times before I actually click anything. Needless to say, it will be extremely hard to avoid this game's secrets.

The odds are that they wouldnt give anything too big, but my theory is that with the constant updates mean there isnt much left to finish, leaving the release soon to behold (hopefully tomorrows update would give the release date)... So, unless ya wanna risk it, check the updates.

I think that the more they show, the more that they are adding to the final game. If we see more, we will expect more from the final. Hopefully they have figured that out or we will be disappointed. So far i am disappointed with the character number and stage number. Besides, on the site, the only real new things added from the trailer knowledge is the music and the crates and barrels.

Remember how Sakurai said that he's going to show all the hidden characters?
That's all the "too much" we're gonna see, and outside of the starting lineup I doubt it's going to be too in depth with movesets and all that.

They're not gonna show all the items, stages, or special features, just basic stuff in those terms.
Think of Smashbros.com as an online instruction booklet.

I don't think we're getting too much info, like someone else said, think about how muc was in Melee, and that game is a 6 year old game that was rushed. This game is on a console much more powerful. And don't forget, we could get Connect24 updates! Things like costumes, trophies, retro stages, and even characters (probally clones). Seriously think about Connect24, can I make a thread on that spefically or is there oneI'm missing?

I don't think we're seeing too much at all.

Honestly, I haven't learned much of anything that I actually want to know about the game.

Sure, surprise us with characters, thats fine.

But what I really want to know is the fine details of the game mechanics. More specifically how they are different from melee, etc.

Boxes and barrels are just fine and dandy, but I can't honestly say that I'll even be seeing much of them.

I'm not looking to Brawl for surprises, I'm looking for solid game mechanics.

You're kidding, right? I mean, they haven't released one significant piece of information yet. Eveyr time I go to smashbros.com I am severely disappointed.

It sucks, they haven't told us anything. They're revealing stuff they already revealed and pretending it's new, "Fox is in the game!"

^^^^ That is the only thing that makes me disappointed. Getting an update about what we already know. Mostly the character part. I would like if they released one new character to us right now, just so I feel better about the updates. Maybe E3 will have a lot of info in store for us. A release date, maybe a few characters thrown in there. Who knows...

Most of the things they show don't have much importance anyways. Even if you weren't being told that Crates changed form depending on the level, the "surprise" would wear down after half a week of playing. We haven't really learned anything jawbreaking as of now. Gameplay is really all that counts. New characters and game modes/online is all I'm really awaiting for. The rest I couldn't really careless. After a few months or maybe a year when the competitive scene gets big, everyone will ditch the items, a big fraction of the maps will never get touched ever again, and ppl won't give a **** about how much time it took you to beat event #242. These little things aren't what have made SSBM such a success and I don't think that'll change for SSBB.

Chillax everyone

I wouldn't be worried. If Sakurai keeps going as he is now with updates, I doubt we'll even get through the confirmed characters by the time E3 rolls around, and I'm hoping that Smash will make an appearance there with info on stuff we DON'T already know. What a novel idea, ne? lol

What I want is a release date, plain and simple. So in answer to the first post, no, we're not seeing too much.

E3 I hope is the key release of important info. I would like to see one thing jaw dropping, almost how Snakes appearance got most people. You know something to keep my hype up so that I'm not checking the smashbros site and get some crappy update. Well any update is better than none.
