I both think and don't think it will. On one hand, I think it will, because "Holiday 2014" could very easily slip into 2015, especially since both Brawl and the 3DS version was delayed.

On the other hand, Sakurai seem to want to stay within 2014 as he promised. I think we maybe got the final releases at E3 - an October release for the 3DS and a December release for the Wii U. I think Sakurai wants to make sure it does come out in 2014, especially before Christmas to make it sell even better.

So, all in all, I don't think it will be pushed to 2015, but I don't think it is impossible.
Lets hope its before thanksgiving or after black Friday.

I guess it depends on how much they're able to change with patches. For the first three weeks or more, everyone's going to be on their "honeymoon" period with Smash (including 3DS buyers like myself), so no one will notice or care about any problem with the game short of a gamebreaking and easy to trigger glitch. As long as they get the core of the game right, like the physics, animations, music, and so on, it's not like the character balance has to be perfect on day 1. They also don't have to rigorously test for and eliminate obscure things in the vein of Melee's black hole.

So, yes, Brawl was delayed, but more recently Pokemon X and Y launched with a Lumiose City save glitch. I'm leaning toward them pushing the game out in time regardless. In the modern age, it's easier to apologize for a bug than a delay.

I'm a pessimist and voted yes. I can definitely see it happen with the 3DS one being delayed until October.

IMO I think they will, however if they don't get this game for the holiday this year, all they're gonna have for the mainstream audience is just MK8.
(or maybe a few other games I'm not aware about.)

I am really not sure, while I would normally assume it is going to be delayed or be released in Japan in December 2014 and release a month later elsewhere like the 3DS version, it seems really silly to not take advantage of Christmas and use this to sell WiiUs.

They also don't have to rigorously test for and eliminate obscure things in the vein of Melee's black hole.
Here is the Black Hole glitch Jiggy speaks of for those that weren't around for it way back when. Best glitch ever.

No. At least in the US/EU. It needs to come out because of Amiibo coming out this fall. Also, Wii U would have nothing this holiday as a major title if that happened.

The shareholders will burn Iwata at the stake if this game gets pushed to 2015, regardless of whether it's actually his fault. It's hard to see Iwata going along with it if Sakurai says he needs more time, especially because most non-competitive players will buy and enjoy it regardless of balance/game mechanics/bugs that are quickly patched out. Also note that the Japanese 3ds version comes out in September, and most of the localization work will have already been done for that version, so a similar discrepancy between the Japanese and North American releases for Wii U is unlikely. In short, Iwata's out if this game gets delayed, so he's going to push it out this year regardless of whether Sakurai is satisfied with its level of polish.

I seriously doubt it. From what I understand, Brawl's first delay was caused by last minute problems with the Wii's craptastic online infrastructure and the second delay was to stall for time to have more copies available at launch. The fact that they're hiring a massive debugging team 6 months out from Black Friday/early December and the fact that the 3DS version has a solid release date is a pretty good sign in my opinion that, if there is a delay for the Wii U version, it probably won't be past mid December.
