Smash 3DS Do Opponents appear in Smash Run on Your Screen?

How come my opponents never appear in Smash Run? Granted, I know it's a large area but there were times when I look at the map and my opponent is literally at the same area but he/she's not on the screen.

Have you spot your opponents in Smash Run?

They're supposed to be on separate maps.

You'll never encounter them in the actual Smash Run, only on the event. I don't know why Sakurai chose this, but he did. Maybe he'll end up adding a difficulty meter in one of the future patches...

I thought the same thing at first I was trying to find them and never could. After a while I realized they are actually on there.
