Aight well, samus' up-b sucks. i hate it. i know its possible to DI out of it, and pretty much just fall out right beside her and not get stunned really at all, and then have the opportunity to take advantage of the situation.

what is the correct DI for this. i have no clue....:ohwell:

I always try to DI out and fast fall to the edge before the samus does. It just puts a big smile on my face.

I just hit whatever direction and hope for the best. ^___^

im talking more on terms of when they up-b out of sheild...on stage stuff
It's a ***** when they do this onto platforms to minimize landing lag. Smash di left or right (away from samus), then fastfall and follow her. :D If she's upbing onto a platform, there might not be much you can do to punish it. Depends on the situation.

What is "DI"? o_O

Read the stickies!

Yeah, I think you need Smash DI to escape an out-of-shield upB from Samus. Try SDI left/right, then fastfall. It's difficult to do and probably won't work every time, but you might get out of a few of them. Remember, you only need to escape once or twice to put it in your opponent's head that it's NOT foolproof. It'll make them hesitate about using it so freely.

if you're dairing their shield, and they do it fast enough, and you use the control stick to dair, you will probably tech it because you were trying to l-cancel.
Don't attack Samus' shield though....

When you tech out of their up-B, is that a result of smash di or is it a result of crouch canceling?

yea thats also one of my problems. im used to the fact that attacking soneones sheild, and lcancelling into a shine destroys the chances of getting grabbed, and enables me to either do it again, or back off, or actually hit them with the shine.

samus doesnt care about that though, and will only try and upB out of that most likely, which in my case, I usually get hit by. I know sometimes here i see cactuar's fox DI out of it, and it drives me crazy how he does it, lol

How soon (after your caught in it) do you have to smash DI out of the upB so you can escape and fastfall effectively? Also, is it possible to spot dodge/grab with a proper lcancel or are you gonna get caught in it regardless (assuming a good samus)?

well, i just got done playing my crewmates samus, and im not sure to tell you the truth. sometimes i can grab or spot dodge, and sometimes i cant and he gets it off. sometimes he'll even do it before my shine, but im guessing thats when i miss an l-cancel or something.

i tried hard as hell to remember to DI out of it AND fastfall, but its gonna need to take some more work for me. it is probably my most hated move in the game. its not that he beats me with it, but its the most annoying thing ever. thats all he does.....

Not sure if many of you guys know this, but right before you hit the ground, you can shoot a laser, basically canceling the fall.

If you're playing version 1.0 of the game there's nothing you can do to get out if you don't escape before the 2nd hit since the later hits have no hitlag.

You can tell if you're playing 1.0 if when you get hit by it it goes much faster and smoother, while later versions it's much slower and choppy while it's hitting you. When there's hitlag you can use SDI to get out.

Well, you can actually attack samus's shield.

Basically, there are a few things you can do. If the samus likes to wait till you right when you land after a dair or nair or w/e you can spotdodge right after the drill instead of shining.

Another thing you can do is buffer your lightshield. You do this by doing an aerial and then l-canceling with Z. Since you are already l-canceling with Z if you hold it down your lightshield will come out on the first possible frame when you hit the ground. A samus player for the most part will never shield grab a fox so if they like to up B out of shield this will work quite often.

Another thing to try is to hold down to CC and then tech the up B >_>.

lol i love how this thread is all about the gayness of my samus. it scares foxes :)
i actually dont do it as much anymore unless im scared fighting a really good falcon or another matchup that samus is terrible at.
and yes we play on version 0 (i guess some ppl call it version 1, but on the disc the name is version 0, i got it at launch) unless its the same in versions 0 and 1, and was fixed in 2.

as for u gotm, when u tried spot dodging it and sometimes got it and sometimes it didnt its cause i still mess up on it a lot. normally when i dont have a good handling on my controller (sometimes when my hands get sweaty its hard to handle it and my thumb slips off the analog stick sometimes) and one of two things happen, either i dont up B and my shield will raise up (cause i didnt smash up hard enough) or il start a jump and then upB, and ul get me in that small split second when im jumping and not upBing. thats why when you see me upB out of my shield i have to focus a lot on it and il smash my controller to make sure i dont mess up.

how nice am i, helping my team/crewmate on doing better against me lol
