Delzethin Lists 30 Ways the Next Smash Could Improve Upon Ultimate

Smash_6_improve.jpg

Ever wonder how the next Smash game could improve upon Super Smash Bros. Ultimate? Well, you won’t have to wonder for long, because Delzethin thought of thirty ways that could happen!

There was a problem fetching the tweet

This time Delzethin opted to split his video’s ideas into six major sections. First, there’s a segment for “Single-Player Content”. Afterwards there’s one for “Upgraded Presentation”, “Refreshed Rules & Controls”, “Quality of Life Updates”, “Improving Online Play”, and finally “Marketing & the Hype Cycle”. Without spoiling too much of the video, here’s a couple of the suggestions he brought up:
  • The ability to create custom costume palettes, much like the feature in Rivals of Aether.
  • Minigames that also serve as tutorials and training exercises to help players improve.
  • The reintroduction of separate matchmaking queues for competitive and casual play online.
  • The addition of a new ranked mode that’s closer to how other fighting games handle it.
  • New non-character unlockables, such as menu themes and alternate costumes.
  • A new setting in the control options that allows players to toggle how long their input buffer will be.
And of course, there’s still twenty four more ideas in the video! If you’re interested, we highly recommend watching it.

Author’s Note: While I didn't end up agreeing with everything I really like most of the ideas here. For starters, I've always wanted a buffer toggle to be an option so I was pretty happy to see that brought up. I'm also quite fond of his idea to let the stage builder interact with the stadium modes and think that would add a ton of value to both modes. But enough about my thoughts, what did you think?
