~Dashdancing Olimar

~Dashdancing with olimar can be useful for:

DACUS[if you time it right]
PIKMIN THROW

DACUS: Dash-Attack-Cancel-Up-Smash

~Many characters has been able to use dacus, no matter long or short.
although olimar's is rather short it is much faster than most characters dacus. I myself found it hard to use DACUS with ANY button configs while in the heat of battle.

~Dashdancing: Dashdancing into dacus is much faster, makes the olimar user a little more comfortable during the heat of battle as to not mess up scince there's no button pressing, and is easy to use once you get use to the timing.

[STILL IN PRACTICE/TESTING] Usually after holding one direction for a second will enable you to DACUS in the direction you WANT to go to.

*Note: Randomly tilting the c-stick up will NOT guarantee a dacus.

[STILL IN PRACTICE/TESTING] Dashdancing-DACUS seems to gain priority than the usual up-smash.

~Pikmin Throw: Olimar's SIDE+B

~I have tested this multiple times, wavedashing-SH-pikmin throw GAINS more accuracy than the normal pikmin throw. It is much better for pressure[not advised to use in EVERY SITUATION] scince of course more pikmin are latching on.

USE: Better accuracy ON and OFF stage.

EX: Your fighting your opponent and you knock him off the stage a bit far. if your opponent has flown straight or low, DASHDANCING-SH-pikmin throw will allow you to latch on more pikmin.[excellent if you have purple pikmin and white as well] A few opponent will chase after you[mostly will s dash attack], so try throwing 2-3 pikmin at a time. and of course following up with a grab adds to the pressure.

TEST IT OUT!:
Try it in friendlies at first or cpu&training mode of course.

WE WILL DESTROY PEACH!"

Bring back your results:)

Thank you olimar mainers your buddies, the pikmin.

Sorry, but you'll probably get more attention to this topic posting it to people that play brawl+, and considering this is only the Olimar Boards, you're not gonna gett much of that here. Posting this in the social thread wouldn't be as bad of an idea so that it wouldn't take up space as a thread, but this really doesn't belong here >.>

edit: After talking to MGW through pm i realized he just got wavedashing and dash dancing mixed up :x

Umm... I can't say I'm 100% sure because I haven't actually tested this (and for understandable reason), but I'm 99.9% sure you will not gain any more priority boost smashing than you will regular upsmashing. Unless the sparks on the yellow pikmin actually linger in the air behind him as you running upsmash (which would be a huge overlook by the smash community), a simple understanding of the physics of this game will tell you that this is impossible.

The same thing applies to the increased accuracy of your pikmin throws after dash dancing. It... doesn't happen. I don't know what you're seeing. <_<

Thanks for trying though. We appreciate the effort. ^_^b

Personally, DACUS is fairly easy. I can do it across any stage easily when warmed up.

Dash dancing doesn't effect anything at all... and you shouldn't say "mainer".

Anyway, thanks for trying.

Try setting ur R or L to attack and use the other button completely for sheilding. Dash dancing isn't all that useful in brawl though, I agree with -Hilt-, go to brawl plus and post it there if u haven't already.

Meh, maybe I should start using Olimar's dacus. I usually don't concern myself with stuff like that. I do use Olimar's dashdance a lot though, usually to quickly avoid an attack and then run in with my own attack. And last weekend all of the sudden I started dashdancing in front of my opponents, then Usmashing. It worked because for some reason they just sit there and shield, and then the Usmash pokes through. Or if they still keep having full shields, I condition them with the Usmash for a while, then grab.

I think you're confusing dash dancing with simply dashing forward, then dashing back.

There's literally no dash dancing in Brawl, excluding dash dancing in-place.

Isn't that the only kind of dash dancing there is? Where you move your controller back and forth quickly and your character does the dash animation in rapid succession? Am I missing something here?

Ahh I see where your confusion is

Yeahhh it's technically just 2 dashes, but it very briefly puts him into the dash dance animation nonetheless. I see an attack coming, and so I'll start a dash away from my opponent and then dash towards him. It's not "dashing away, waiting, then dashing back," it's "dashawaydashtowardsallinkindathesamemotion" I made that all one word to really emphasize how quick I mean it to be

Yeah, I understand.

The dash dancing window in Brawl is so small, though. I can't see how you could possibly dodge something, unless you're actually doing two different dashes.

I know it's small, but I do it anyways, I started doing it subconsciously, I never ever think about it, and sometimes I don't even notice I do it, but every now and then I'll watch myself play while I'm playing and I'll be like "holy **** I just dodged that grab with a dashdance I **** lolol" ^_^

lol I use dashdance to kinda get my opponent thinking to hard. It defenetly creates better pressure in our pikmin defense scince it has the opponent on his toes.

Oh, would you mind giving me a specific example? I still think dash dancing doesn't do anything to an opponent who knows what he's doing.

I don't see how pressure would effect dash dancing's usefulness directly.

It has a vaguely similar effect to Melee dash dancing. *shrugs* (though I wouldn't bother dash dancing in Brawl without the no tripping hacks, anyways)

Melee has a huge dash dance window. You can dash for quite some time before dash dancing. Of course, if you know your opponent will react a certain way to it, you can punish 'em.

I'm just saying, in reality, dash dancing in Brawl has the same effect as standing.

I can't explain my approach to this game, I've tried but I can't really do it. I just tend to react differently to any given situation, which works for and against me.

If I'm right in front of my opponent and I think they are gonna try to grab or do a short range attack, that quick little dash away and back is all I need to avoid it. It's something I started doing recently. And like I said earlier, it's also fun to DD in front of your opponent and just watch them and see how they react. For some reason they like to sit in their shield because they think you are gonna do something. It's funny.

That was fairly nice, actually. Brawl's dash dance window's small. I do something similar, but it's actually just a dash forward into a backward boost pivot grab.

I think u have more options when u are standing lol. U can do more moves from standing then from dash dancing cause u are dashing, and dashing has less options then standing.
