I know that Shiek has a pretty bad Dash dance compared to Marth and Fox, but it seems pretty usless because its so bad. I have such a habit to dash dance becuase of me mainly using Marth, but should I try to get rid of the habit when im sheik?

lol sheik doesn't need to dd

it covers like... zero ground

a combination of WDs and dashes does a better job IMO
No dude, alot of sheik pros dd(i think all do actually)
Its great for mindgames and just to mix up their game play!

DD is when you quickly dash back and forth. If done within a set number of frames you will be changing direction w/o the turn around lag. It'll look like there's a cloud of dust at your feet

Hmm... I don't think so.

KDJ or drephen do not seem to use it.

and your 2nd statement doesn't say much... mindgames? mixing up ur gameplay?

Sheik's DD is so short that it is almost like standing in place.
You can't dodge much **** with it either.
Plus it's hard to bait stuff with it cause it is faster than those other DDs out there.

I'm not saying that Sheik's DD is useless... but Luma made a very bold statement.

I have been watching some KDJ videos and he uses it.
I am not saying that Sheik player use it all the time, but they do use it once or twice a match, give or take a few!

If you hold the control stick when DDing Sheik cancels the dash into a run extremely fast which makes for a very short DD, but if you hit the direction then release it you can get the full duration of the dash animation without starting the run making it a lot more usable.

so, if you DD in one place, then why is it useful? (other than mindgames)
u just answered ur question. DD is for mind games. sometimes it helps to run away and run back to avodi an attack and leave ur oppenent open. Saying anything is totaly useless isnt true b/c everything has some sort of use if u can use it well.

Mindgames? could you explain in depth plz.

Avoid attacks? WD to dash in opposite direction does this as well or even better.

You use DD to approach the opponent (slowly) so that they cannot anticipate your next move.

mind games are psyching ur opponent out. So say u are running at them then, they wmight expect an attack, so u wavedash backwards or DD to mess them up and leaving u with an opening

Hmm you're right on that one.

Finally, I realized that I use a quick DD much more often than I thought. Especially to adjust my spacing for circle grabs and stuff...

However, I never do stuff like DDing in place.

yeah, well ppl who do it in place usually dont know what theyre doing lol. it just gets u hit or theyre Trying to "show off"

DD isnt quite as good because the dash animation is short. but there are still other options. one thing you can do is dash towards your opponent and then WD back to see if your opponent will take the bait. since both moves are really short, you have a decent chance at closing in for a grab. and dont forget needle cancelling in the air either.

Sheiks dash dance is anything BUT uselss...
You perfrom it different though.
With pretty much every character dash dancing is pressing left-right, if you do that with Sheik though her dash dance is really short and most of the time you don't dash dance but turn around slowly >_>
So instead of regular dash dancing you should dash, stop, dash, stop.
That way you extend the lenght of her dash dance with pretty much no lag, its easier and makes her dash dance something worth using.

This is probably abit unclear so I might make a vid explaining what I mean later.

Exactly, I even saw Nihonjin use this in a video recently, making him probably the first pro to do it.

Not that it matters, people shouldn't limit themselves to things they only see the pros do, because after all, the pros have to make these things up themselves.

Anyways, probably and easier way to explain it is just fox trot back and forth.

It's hella useful, otherwise Sheik's dash dance is very limited in application compared to say Marth.

Plus Sheik looks so cool when you use just this to move yourself around the field.

The first?
Nope.
I thought so too at first, but then I saw vids of CJ using it aswell and those vids are from long before I even started competitive play :p.

I like dash dancing to tech chase falcon. I'm not sure who else but that's how I rack up damage in combination with tilts and dash attacks.

I guess so, but I seem to get better results with dash dancing. I guess it's a personal thing. It helps me react better to their DI and tech.

I find mixing up DD/WD properly you can cover a lot of ground and do jabs from it.
(works wonders when i play)

but if your sloppy at it.. gg
