Sup guys , I come here to share a tactic that caught my attention recently.

So I was playing some GG:AC and looking at some tactics when this particular one caught my attention.

Dash Brake
Dash Brake is a very simple technique but should not be overlooked. It involves using Faultless Defense (FD) to instantly cut a ground dash short and put your character into a blocking state. The reason this is important is because during a dash/run, in order to come to a complete stop and simply block, you must go to neutral on the controller (5) or hold back (4). However, before your character is able to block, they will slide to a halt. During the slide, you are completely vulnerable to ground attacks. As noted in the General section, you can cancel the dash or run at any point with a Jump, Super Jump, or any attack. However, if you just want to advance quickly for position without throwing any attack out or jumping, the other option is to Dash Break.
Faultless Defense translated to SSB64 terms would be just shielding.

The Guy on the left(Chipp) uses it in the first couple of seconds when the match starts. He dashes then he gets this green aura ring around him. He uses through out the match which I suggest watching because you will see it used in many ways.

I know this may sound kinda dumb considering you can Throw, Upsmash , Grab , and Jump out of a dash(not to mention the whole putting up shield putting away takes some time) but I think this is more useful in certain situations. Especially tech chasing

Hopefully I can get a vid of this being done effectively in a match.

Any thoughts on this?

So just dash cancel with a shield? I use it all the time with Luigi Vs DK, Gets many missed grab attempts. :p Since he has low *** traction its relatively useful with him.

The difference between SSB and GG:AC is that FD can be put on briefly, and something else can be done instead. The shielding animation in SSB64 is much longer, so the usefulness of this is limitted.

Also, as you stated before, there're better options, like dashing backwards or crouching, which you can't do in GG.

What is 'GG:AC'? Edit: Oh, Guilty Gear?

Plus, that youtube video is broken. Edit: No it's not.

Edit: Why is this thread about Guilty Gear?

hmm like you said this could help tech chasing because you could definitly fake someone out with this, due to its randomness xD, and how little its used in ssb64.

Your eyes happened to drift to my location, I see.
well i have a different technique that involves SHIELDING during a dash. it immediately stops your character from moving and puts up the shield, no matter how long you have been moving.
then the best after this maneuver is to roll backwards and grab if they lunge at you with a dash attack

That's exactly what this thread's about.
