Anyone ever play these? They had so much potential, yet the games were never popular. I searched and found no thread for these games, but if there is please lock this and I'm sorry.

I played DC2 a long time ago, and just re-bought 1 (I played it too, but to a lesser extent as DC1 is harder)

I'm loving it, it's a very good PS2 title, and I bet DC2 is a lot better than I remember it, even though I dislike the graphical change.

Heres to hoping DC makes it on PS3 one day...

I played the first one, I was disappointed by it. But if Level-5 dropped White Knight and worked on it some more I could see it become something really great (note that I didn't play the second one).

You didn't like the first one? I actually prefered it over DC2 unlike everyone else, though why I don't know. What made you disappointed? So you know, 90% of the people that are disappointed by DC1 love DC2. So I recommend it =p

Sorry if double post, 502.... x.x

Well, you might not like what you hear but here are my reasons for not liking it:

- Found the combat to be poor
- Didn't like how your weapons has durability that couldn't be repaired
- Found the areas within the dungeons to all look very samey and uninspired
- Don't like how you actually have to keep your fluids up,
- Found the "build the town" aspect to feel tacked on

It isn't a terrible game, to me it just wasn't anything worthwhile.

Everyone has opinions man, and I agree with 1 and 3. The combat isn't the best, and the dungeons can be very samey.

The Town-Building is pretty interesting though, and the dialogs can be very funny.

As for fluids/weapons, later down the road you never get thirsty, but the weapons... well. I just think it keeps me on my toes.

Sadly, Dark Cloud 2 has NONE of those features. It's simply an adventure game in which you get stronger and stuff. It is fun, it has a great story, but it follows the mold. DC1 didn't, and I actually liked it for that.

Also... Toan (the main DC1 character) has a some real thin legs.

I have bad memories of both games. The first one was awesome. HUGE difficulty spike at the Thrid boss(ice queen or whatever). I got to the moon factory, assembled that huge mech thing... and nothing happened. I restarted the PS2 and the game stopped playing completely. Got a new copy, and same thing happend. I was severely disappointed as I had spent several hours leveling up weapons. Using status break I created a sword that quenched my thirst and gave me more money.

Then I got Dark Cloud 2. Much harder than the first Dark Cloud. Ran away from some clowns, credits roll and the game freezes. Spent a total of 10 minutes on it

Sequel would be nice. You say it was never popular but DC1 made it on to Sony's Greatest Hits.

Three bad games. Man you really are unlucky. Are you sure on DC1 you just didn't miss doing something? 'Cause a lot of the times you have to get 100% Georama crap to move on

I thought that Dark Cloud 1 was mediocre at best, but Dark Cloud 2 improved on it in every way and was a great game.

Any news on whether or not Dark Cloud 3 is still being worked on? I t was announced for PSP, but that was years ago and there's been no mention of it since.

I think it's a bunch of malarkey.

First it gets announced on PS2. Then PSP. And I read somewhere about it being on PS3. I think Level5 is just making up lies honestly. It's a good series though, and I wish they'd make another. I actually liked DC1, and DC2 was good too, I want a DC3 =/

Yeah I had the guide to the game and I put everything like it was supposed to, including the head facing the hanger door.

I really didn't find the environments to be all that bad, but I'm one of those people who like any game(including Billy Hatcher LOL). I forgive just about everything. The water system was kinda bull until you got like 5 gourds for every character. But DC2 required too much defense. I got ***** hard by the knights at the beginning. And I hated the voice acting. It was awful.

I would still play DC2 if I could find a copy that's guranteed not to be scratched upon purchase.

I liked DC2, it was good. The only reason I think I prefered DC1 was it's style and design.

And you have bad luck, you should probably never buy used games.

DC2 was good but I didn't like photography. It had a ton of potential, and it was SO CLOSE to being implemented well, but recipes were almost always useless by the time you had access to the items, and I HATED that you could permanently miss some (like the rearing elephant in the sewers). Also Spheda was very glitchy sometimes (being allotted 1 shot to go around a wall just because the portal is nearby in distance). Also Transformation was hilariously useless. Endgame leveling becomes imbalanced -- buy wrench, kill high-level enemy with main weapon and switch back, level wrench up like 20 times, max out stats, repeat until maxed out drill wrench, then synergize with your best weapon, repeat til you have a maxed out LEGEND. Lame, but I was too big of a ***** to ignore the temptation of easy leveling :ohwell: Despite all the flaws I still unashamedly dropped like 50 hours into it. I'd like a sequel :)

I REALLY hope they release the rumored Dark Cloud collection on PS3. If it gets the God of War treatment, then the game will sell really well.

I liked the first game better. Even though I grinded a ton the game still provided somewhat of a challenge. In the first dungeon I had a Seventh Heaven and an Angel Shooter. In the second dungeon I got a Inferno hammer and finally got a Angel Gear. I skipped through queens. Then in Muska Laska, I got a Chronicle, Super Steve, Mobius ring, and Babel Spear. Then in Moon Sea I got the rabbit guys best weapons. I think it is the super nova and some machine gun.

Right now I'm in the Moon and Sun temple:

Toan : Atamalia Sword + 7
Goro : Battle Axe (maxed out nearly) +2
Xaio: Hardshooter (or the W looking slingshot) +3 (about to evolve as well)
Ruby: Needs to be trained.

I'm going back to put a platinum ring and a normal ring synthsphere into her crystal ring and etc. Then she will be on par with Goro and Xaio. As for Toan...

He just kicks ***

I thought the W one was "Double Impact" But that is a gift in Muscka Racka. You think Toan's a beast, wait till you get
Ungaga's good weapons
then your talking.

Atamalia---> CHRONICLE SWORD!!!!

Wasn't the Maneater a pain to use since it was so short?

I got Ungaga...he kinda sucks for now. But I can see he has potential.

Here is my feelings so far:

Toan : Amazing, love swords. I just like how Toan looks.. 10/10
Xaio: Eh. 7/10
Goro: You're fighting style sucks 2/10
Ruby: Oh my god, hot and your good, but relying on magic sucks 8/10
Ungaga: 10/10. It rules

As for the last guy, he sounds amazing on paper. I'm thinking slow fire weapons > rapid because it won't eat up WHP.

Edit, I'm very excited for Chronicle Swords

Right now:
Everyone is the same BUT

Ruby has Crystal Ring with a Ruby Ring AND Platinum Ring synthsphere in it. So she isn't weak anymore.

Osmond
the last character doesn't eat WHP as fast as you think, it is scaled so every 7-10 bullets=1whp at a decent durable levle, also he has 3 types of
Guns, Machine, Flame, Beam

Yeah, I hear that the flame doesn't have an ultimate weapon though. Was always curious, which form of fire is the best? Just got Ungaga and 5000 Gold. Want to get a Spear (somehow..guess explore the temple) and then train everyone up.

Aiming for:

Chronicle Swords
Divine Beast Title
Satan's Axe (before Inferno)
Ring before Mobius
Pike before the ultimate pike

So pretty much everyone has their next-to-ultimate- weapon (Yes, I count Chronicle 2)

Flame is technicaly part of the Beam line, also if you want a spear 100% Geroma Musck, you get Mirage and a Diamond

Technically doesn't the evolution line not matter? You can take the crappy path to the ultimate weapon, but as long as you get the right weapon + max it out with jewels, etc, that's all that matters, right?

Got Ungaga... so here is my priorities.

- Play Sun&Moon Temple UNTILL I get me a Spear for Ungaga. (I can't seem to get one in the other dungeons, and I can't fathom how I'm supposed to fish 1,700 points)
- Go to the Shipreak and:
- Toan get Chronicle Sword [Don't max out]
- Goro get Satan's Axe
- Xaio get Divine Beast Title
- Ungaga/Ruby get the weapons before their ultimate ones.

I think if I work it this way, everyone will have their next best weapons. Over time, max out the allies and get Chronicle Maxed out. Bwahahaha. Trying to finish SMG2 first though, because I decided I'm going to play Baten Kaitos soon.

Well if you get most of your weapons max before the final boss, well it will be a cakewalk. All you really need thought in my thoughts is a max Toan/Ungaga+Osmond, got through the bonus dungeon with them alone because there are no limited zones there.

Spear are very hard to come by, i think rarity goes in order of when you acquire the character, cause I always got Sword/Sling/Hammers, somewhat got Rings/Amulets and usually never got Spears/Guns.

Also note when in the Final dungeon, they never programed in the backfloor item, so don't wonder why you never got it. (It was supposed to be the Feather Duster)

I liked Osmond a lot. Someone should figure out the dps of his supernova vs his top machine gun. I liked the machine gun better myself. It was fun flying around going scarface on everyone.

Ungaga got on my nerves despite getting his babel spear. It just seemed weird to use him when my ranged characters could handle the situation better.

Chronicle + Dran's feather = win. Run up to the enemy and slash.

I thank you so much for telling me that. I would've been freaking out of Harpies... erm.. Feather Duster.

Goro and Xaio suck imo, but I still need to max them out.

I perferd his best machine gun, for one I read that his best beam can not reach the final boss's head to do damage for some reason. And two with the special of critical on it, it pays off when you just knock em' out in 3 shots. (Takes a huge load off in the bonus dungeon)

Also the C2 is great when you you go back and kill things in one hit,but then you are like. Oh no more game.

Oh wait, that sword sucked.
