It's pretty much confirmed that custom movesets can't be used in random online matches. You'd have to set up a match against friend list opponents if you want to use them.

I'm sure this might lead to them being banned from local tournaments as well, but maybe some tournaments will make exceptions.

Personally, I don't know where I stand, because while custom moves may be great, we still don't know all of them, lol. There could be some really overpowered ones.

It's recommended that you search the forums before posting threads with topics that will surely already be discussed.

I doubt it in big tournament play, since finding a counterpick to a custom move character would be difficult, unless you knew every combination possible. Also, players would have to set up their custom moves every battle if they switch characters, and that would take a while.

Keep in mind that online play "For Glory" mode is meant to be a quick-and-simple fair fight with an anonymous opponent.

It doesn't allow stages other than FD either. This hardly means that non-FD stages should be banned. The same applies to Mii Fighters.

All you need to do is test them and see if they meet a few criteria. 1) No gamebreaking specials, you cannot have one that you ban on a specific character and then let everybody else use theirs. That is just silly. So they have to all have their own pros and cons and not be OP. Think team fortress 2. A lot of special weapons have cool effects but more often than not the vanilla weapons are better. And the ones where vanilla isnt better the gap in how good something is is not a problem.

2) if it takes too long to set up it wont be used because of time constraints. Smash tourneys already last a long time and having everybody change their moveset is just too much.
