Hope this isn't old news but I've been playing IC for a while and I would have never come up with this. It happened on accident. It's a really simple way to have Nana charge up a dsmash without your opponent knowing. Did you know that the IC's crouch and charging dsmash have the same animation? All you have to do is desynch, make Nana charge dsmash, and then make Popo crouch. Nana will appear to be crouching with Popo when she's really charging it up. It looks like you're just sitting there doing nothing and if an opponent decides to attack while you seem vulnerable, they can get hit by Nana's dsmash.

I was edgeguarding my friend and I dropped through a platform and planned to charge up a dsmash. I accidentally did a landing desynch and only Nana was charging up the dsmash, but I didn't notice and I thought both climbers were charging. He up B'd toward me and got killed by Nana's dsmash while Popo did nothing. We both were like "WTF just happened?"

Just looking for some input about this. Does anyone here use it? Since I just found this yesterday I have yet to make it into something really useful. But I think it can come in handy at smashfests/tourneys with people I hardly get to play against. I'm sure they wouldn't expect it. Seems like a mindgame/tricky thing to do.

I've landing de synched into that once without realising it at first. Delightful suprise when it gets the KO because they can't see that your charging an attack

Nana flashing would probably give it away. I don't see it being too effective but it's probably worth a try.

there's barely any windup time on the dsmash anyway; if your opponent is dumb enough to walk up to you, then just cc into double dsmash the conventional way for extra power

I've managed to land this move several times (and kill my opponent in the process), you just have to be sneaky and use it at a random time. And don't be predictable. Since the smash will be charged up (usually fully charged), it kills really easy. My favorite is to roll desynch into it.

Helped me get some kills in tourneys too. :chuckle:

It works. The easiest way to pull it off is to spot dodge desync* and follow it up by holding <Direction>+A. Popo will recover from the spot dodge as normal and Nana will start charging whatever smash you choose (the most practical one is the d-smash because it is less noticable). Release A when you want Nana to smash.

I find this to be a really useful desync move because you can do anything with Popo while Nana is charging or when she finishes. An effective combo is to do the "Hidden D-smash" move and when she finishes press X/Y to jump with Popo and fair to spike them back down (assuming you hit in front of Nana).

*Grab desync works the same way but is a little more dangerous.

Another fun thing is alternating charged smashes. Have Nana start charging one, then hold A with your index finger and hit the C-stick in any direction with your thumb. Nana will keep charging, and Popo will charge a different smash. Once Nana finishes you can use A+Direction to have her charge another smash, and when Popo finishes she will still be charging. You can keep repeating this (useful for edgeguarding and against characters without projectiles). A shortened version is just to start charging hers and then hit C-stick for Popo and release A to have them both perform different smashes at the same time.

Edit: Couple of more things. That wasn't to clear.

You can also alternate uncharged smashes by releasing everything after Nana starts to charge and then just repeatedly tapping the C-stick in any direction. This leads into a typical 'evenly-timed' desync where you can do any A-move alternating between the two ICs.

The last thing I know of is called "Nana's leash" or something like that. (Don't remember if this has been posted or not). If you start charging Nana's smash and run with Popo she'll slide on the ground after you, charging her smash.
