Critique my FoXXX

I've recently started to record training sessions again to post on Smashboards for critiquing. We are two players from the Central OH melee scene and play quite often, usually every other day. My plan is to post the videos we record on a daily/semi-daily basis for critiquing; hopefully some sort of improvement will be seen in the videos after a few weeks.

Things I know I need to Work on:

-Being less predictable at the edge, especially when getting back on the stage and when teching near the ledge.
-Predicting dash patterns better and dash dancing more efficiently.
-DIing against Marth. My DI is normally pretty good but I can't DI this guy very well. Especially with Marth's SideB. I really have trouble punishing this move and DIing the killing blows.
-Shield pressure. I'm working very hard in training mode on tech skill lately, including shield pressure. Hopefully this will improve over the next couple of weeks.
-Getting out of shield pressure, especially against Falco. He just eats away at my shield and I can't seem to find a way out without getting shined or aerialed.

If anybody has any tips for the issues above or has any other comments/critiques they would be extremely appreciated by both me and my training partner.

Thanks in advance

First match against Falco. Avoid using dash attack at such low percents. This move should be used very sparingly, and at higher percents (50% and higher). Ledge hop lasers aren't very effective with Fox. Just stick with either ledge hop wavelands, or ledge hop dairs. Good job on the nair shines, but try and follow it up with a wavedash to jab. Works wonders on Falco. I'm assuming around 1:36 those where suppose to be SHFFLed aerials instead of full jump ones. You had the right idea in mind, but practice SHFFLing those aerials instead for better/quicker shield pressure. You have a habit of doing ledge attacks (pressing a while hanging on the edge) over and over. Remember to switch it up, buddy. Also, while hanging on the edge remember to renew your invulnerable frames. Finally, I'd suggest a lot more grabs to up tilt/smash ****.

First match against Marth. You have the right idea in mind. Dash dancing just outside Marth's attack range to make him wiff out an attack/defensive option and punish. But the problem is you are running into Marth's attacks while doing this. Try keeping yourself spaced just outside Marth's attack range, which would equal outside his forward smash range. At 00:23 you got a up throw but didn't follow it up with anything. All up throws on Marth should be followed up with uairs. Fox's uair ***** Marth. Also remember that when you are on a platform and Marth in underneath you...get off the platform as soon as possible. You can also fall through the platforms and use your bair, dair, or nair.

Work on your edge game. You were killed during your first edge guard attempt because you didn't renew your invulnerable frames. Spot dodging Marth's dancing blade isn't a good idea. =P

Overall you aren't bad. Just remember to watch your opponent and take you time. Also, your edge game could use some work. Good luck. :)

Alright thanks for the commentary this is pretty much what I was looking for. I put up new videos as well... Any tips on how to deal with the Marth dancing blade? It seems really unreasonable to punish other than shield grab.

i feel like maybe you are used to some other character. you grab like 15 times per stock. its good for fox in some match ups (peach for example) but against falcon you really wont be going far with your grabs.

i even saw you grabbing him out of his predictable-***-sideb a few times when he was 130%+. just usmash.

the more i saw the match the more i thought it was 95% the falcon's mistakes that won it for you.

fox has some really great combos against falcon, but you also don't want to be too offensive (falcon thrives off of defensive punishing into amazing combos). try camping a bit, SHL him a few times. when he comes in for an attack, nair or bair him.

if you're still confused watch some cactuar matches vs falcon, he does really well. his advice on the match up is to have as little lag as you can (which is really good advice for fox in any match up). just space nairs/bairs and shine when you have to (but not always, because if he jumps out of shield with a dair, your shine won't hit and he will start a combo)

Yea looking back you are right. When the Falcon was at higher percents I Missed some opportunities for Usmash/Fsmash when he was in major points of lag (missed SideBs). I sometimes have trouble landing KOs on Falcon and Ganon till very high percents (>150%). Maybe this is because I'm not taking opportunities when I have them.

I go as Fox for 50% of matches. I also play as Falco and Falcon for some other matchups

And they WILL on peach??
