This may not be the most Brawl related and yet it is. It is more Melee related in a sense but you know, Brawl/Melee, it doesn't matter for this topic.

Therefore, I have been playing with a group of friends for some time now and there are some great matches and sometimes, slaughters. But overall, its all good and fun but I must admit, it is very annoying when I could win 14 matches in a row as I did yesterday with Roy and as soon as one of them wins, they celebrate. Some will dance, clap, so forth. Than once you ask them for a rematch the answer is generally, "Nah... Not right now." While I give them a countless amount of rematches. That accompanied with the fact that they could win just that one match and claim that they are better and try to shove it in your face while I remain ever so calm and never shove victories in anyones face that I'm aware of...

What are your thoughts? How does this make you feel?

Have you ever experienced this?

BTW... I have 64 post now... 0.0

N64 was such a great system. :)

First time I played Soul Caliber one of my friends was using Kilik and kept spamming a long range attack and beat me and was like "Oh yeah I pwned you!"

By the way you are, know that you are better in the game and as a person.

It happens to me on the very very very very very rare occasions that my friends win a match while I'm playing. Did I mention that it's very rare that they win. They put the game down and celebrate, and dance when they win

Who cares what they think. You know you're better. Besides the fact every guy's gotta have his ego in tact.

I think they're just really happy they won. Me and my friend are a lot better than most of my other friends, and when they win they sometimes do rub it in a bit. I personally don't let it bother me, and I say it was a good match. I suggest you try not to let it bother you, shake off what they say. Don't let it get to you.

In the end, if they are getting better, thats very good for you too. With better competition you have more room to grow yourself as a player. As for the rematch thing, I wouldn't worry. Just because they won the last match you played, doesn't mean you are inferior.

I'm sure the same has happened to everyone, me included. I just keep cool otherwise it could get to you and affect your game.

Off topic: talking about N64, If my friends ever get to me I just play them at Goldeneye. Seriously, when I play that game I go into another zone lol. Beating them 17-0 always pisses them off lol.

Oh & Kilik FTW lol.

Whenever anyone rubs a victory in my face, I remind them that they can ONLY play games, whereas I excel at a whole multitude of different things.

If that doesn't work for you, just punch them out and kick them in the ribs.

I don't mind that kind of behavior. You have some sort of satisfaction when you win, even countless times, and when they manage to pull off something so extraordinary they feel special. Then they don't wanna lose against, because they lose that special feeling. :)

Don't let it affect you. :D

Challenge them to a money match. When they say that they're better, ask them to put their money where their mouth is, or even only agree to play when money is on the line. You mightn't mind their hubris when you're making a profit!

confirmed. Sending supplies.
Reminds me of my cousin who sucks massive gorilla balls at SSB. Whenever she beat me (way back when), or even KO me, she would (ironically enough), flash a peace sign RIGHT in my face. Then I'd just kill her...Now, though, I can just destroy her so badly, she doesn't want to play. One day, I remember beating her with every single character on the roster. It was fun.

Basically, if they annoy you like that, annoy them back. Sadly, it's the only way they'll STFU...

They're teasing you. If they ACTUALLY believe they are better than you, they are stupid. They are most likely just teasing you that you lost once and celebrating something. Then after working so hard for that victory, they don't want to end on a down note by losing the next one. Just remember that somebody has got to be the last one to lose.

That's kind of annoying. I understand being happy and rubbing in victories a little, but when they start claiming they're better than you. Bleh, that's annoying.

Well if they're really your friends don't mind it. It's really not a big deal. Own them the next time and just be as you usually are.

Haha,

I hate that, what really grinds my gears?

I have a friend who says he's an amazing Luigi, so we do some team matches and he blind sides me, he gets one smash off on me, and then at the end of the match (Which we won) He says he kicked my ***. So I say okay let's do a one one on FD put our characters to the test. I go with my Mario, and 3-Stock his *** to oblivion. Know what he does? He pauses the game before he dies, stalls, and then when the victory thing is up he says "that his other friends 5 stock him all the time"

"Whaaaaat?!"

Now whenever we talk about smash he always acts like he's the better player and he brings luigi to "high tier" standards. He doesn't know how to Wavedash or L-Cancel, and his offense is running at you with his Dair (Which I just shield grabbed to destruction).

Some people don't know how to lose. [/rant]

If they are the best tell them to enter the Gamestop/E.B games tourneys. Lets see who's the best.

I know how you feel. I'm the only casual smasher left in my friends group but they like both my fighting style and spirit. However there's one guy whom practically worships Smash Bros. He only use 3 move of his characters and claims that he owned everyone when he wins and whines whenever someone doesnt do what he suggests. None of us really like him he just follows us. We never let it get to us but he constantly claims he's better.

In other words keep your cool, you are the better man

He wanted to enter a tournament with his crappy Luigi, and I warned to learn some advanced techs.

He brushes me off and continues to say "Gee Jon, I don't know what I'm gonna do with the wii zapper I'm going to win?"

I think that'll finally knock some sense into him.

Wow... Your friends simply suck. I hate losers like that but that's just me I suppose. However, that kind of stupidity never really phases me in any way so I'm good.

Oh, it's a game, and they're just celebrating. It's not being a total bad sport, it's just their one chance at glory. My roommate did that to me when he'd never played the game and said "Oh, that looks so easy! I'll kick your @$$!!" ...then about 20 matches and different characters later, I use Yoshi, who I NEVER, literally, NEVER use, and he beat me when I had two suicides and the final KO came from an exploding capsule that I accidentally hit. For the rest of the week he rubbed it in my face and has yet to play me again since.

That's not horrible, it's funny. If you're better than them, who cares? Let them enjoy themselves. I know he could whopp my @$$ in any of his games, namely any basketball or racing game that isn't Mario Kart.

At least your friends still play with you... most of my friends won't play with me because I am better than them. Even when they win they don't take credit for it and say that they got lucky. I would love if my friends still had the intensity to play for a few hours without getting bored.

Hopefully, at least one of my friends will take the time to learn Brawl more in depth than they did with Melee

I have that kind of problem all the times...I play C.Falcon using L-cancelling, dashdancing and pivotting, those are the only techniques I use, my only true challenge is one of my best friends, and he's completely against it...(I play how it should be played, that kind of crap comes out of his mouth)...
Anyway, one day he's very competitive and always is looking very hard for a way to beat me, the other day he doesn't like getting agressive and just wants to play for fun...okay that's cool, you don't always need to play win, just messing around can be fun too...
But then comes the big problem...he has these ''one-day friends'', I only see them once at his place and they're gone, they are all HORRIBLE smashers who claim they're good (ahum...)...
The thing is, EACH time one of these ''friends'' come by, and see how''good and pro'' I am (it's what they call it...) they decide to team up against me with my best friend, and each time they win they just rub it in like soft butter on a latino girl...
Well, okay, I can take that, this way I KNOW I'm better than them and they envy me for some reason...
But then one of those n00bs goes thrash-talking, saying he pwns us all and that no one can defeat ''Master-Kirby''..(ahum...)...
So I kick the hell out of that Kirby with my Bowser, 4 stocked him, but with the last stock I grabbed him with a Claw in the air and let myself drop to death with him...
So I won the match with no stock lost, and he (seriously) claims for 3 hours long that he killed me once, I didn't do it, he grabbed me with Kirby and dropped to death...
So next time my friend brings in another n00bish friend, we'll just watch a movie, cause the next time some n00b tries to say he's better or grabbed me in the air with Kirby and got a kill, I too am going to perform some air-grabbing and air-throw him out the air-window of my friends 4-air-high appartement...

Sorry about the load of text, but I THINK I know exactly how you feel Matt ;)

And if they do something like that again, just...please...make them feel like a marshmallow...small, soft, and burning on a fire of whoop-a$$..

Oh man, looking back, I used to do that sh*t. My friend Claire would always kick my *** in SSB, and if I won once, I'd get all loud and jumpy, victory dancing and stuff.

Nowadays, It's a three way tie in terms of skill in Melee between my Dr. Mario, Claire's Capt. Falcon, and my friend Victor's Fox. I've stopped doing that victory stuff, and now my friends like me more. They should learn from that, if nothing else.
