got a match against Pika and Fox

What I'm looking for:
-our opponents weaknesses
-general strategy against pika and fox
-more specifically Pika is a grab ***** and Fox and pretty good at spacing/timing
-Good counter-characters
-Is there a tier list of 2v2 teams? Do some characters make better teammates?

thx

Falcon or Pikachu work well against Fox and Pikachu himself. Jiggs also works well against pika but shes not good for team matches.
I believe Ness, Mario and DK are very good in teams.

The ultimate tip is improve your skillz =)

If you're facing a grab ***** pick Fox and use SH aerials you'll own most noobs with simple Drill combos.

Or pick DK and show them what a real grab ***** is like ;D

Best strategy against Fox:

1. Get him off the stage
2. Edgeguard / gimp
3. Rince/Repeat

lol much easier said than done. Fox is my worst matchup by far. On the stage, he's a beast. Off the stage... well, what can he do? Just edgeguard him, and you're good to go.

Well... what character(s) do you use? We could help you better if we knew what your mains are.

One strategy against Fox (my old strategy) is use Pika, stay close to the edge avoid his attacks and lazers, hope he messes up and backthrow him off the stage. F-Smash kills any chance for a successful recovery. This can backfire, since one hit can lead to a 0-death (or edgeguard situation), and a good Fox will notice your strategy pretty quickly.

Jiggs also works well against pika
I highly disagree. True, Pika is one of the easiest to 0-death as puff, and can be started with many attacks, but a Puff will never hit a good Pika. I just played both sides of the matchup earlier today (although my puff opponent was not the best), and a good Pika with good spacing can avoid getting hit, and abuse priority / range advantage. One mistake by Pika, and it's the loss of a stock, but against a good pika, you won't get lucky 5 times in one match.

But a character that becomes a lot better in teams is not Pika, but Ness, because of downB (although Pika probably stays the best char in teams). Ness+Fox or Ness+Mario is a pretty good combination. Also, how is Jiggly not good in teams?

Agreed. Puff has an easier time comboing people since they may be focussed on the other character. Also, if Puff rests, the teammake can just do a weak attack to wake puff up. Plus, the teammate can knock the opponent towards Jigglypuff, making rest combos that much easier. The puff player can hold the stocks (and 0-death when available), while the partner does most of the work... or stuns the opponent for puff to combo. Yes there are better team combinations, but puff does excellent in teams.

All of that sounds highly unreasonable, Jiggly is not that great in teams because A) her main killing move/combo finisher is hugely laggy and a teammate may not always be able to knock you out of it and B) Jiggly dies WAAY too easily.

Well... there's two sides to the coin... lets agree to disagree :p

Anyways... back to what this thread was meant to discuss...

Basically, against Pika, one strategy (if you've never played against a Pika) is to space yourself a safe distance, and punish any mistakes the pika does. If you make any type of mistake, it's either massive damage or a loss of a stock. Then again, depending on your character (e.g. Link), your best strategy is to space yourself so that you are out of his attack's reach, while your attacks (Fair, for example) can still hit.

Thats why i said jiggly is not good in teams. While she can do the rest finisher in 1vs1, in teams she is in a big danger of getting killed after it

not if ur teammate has a brain

pikachu is easily #2 or #1 in teams due to his killing power and survivability.

kirby is also good due to pure crushing power. recovery to me is kinda bad but better than Falcons

if you want to be lame and win 2v2s, you should consider these 2 first

This is dum. I highly doubt he's playing people at a level where getting hit will result in a loss of stock. He doesn't need to play as defensively as you say. He just has to pick an easy character and learn some easy combos and he will win.

It just renders you and possibly one opponent immobile, meaning you can't do anything if you're teammate is getting boned.
i meant in the way that with her upB, u and ur partner can combo on ur opponents. one example, i did samus' upB, and when our opponents were coming out of it, my friend, with jiggs, did the rest attack on them and killed them both

Even on average players thats a rare thing to have happen

Which reminds me...something really stupid happened to me the other day on console.

I was Samus and my friend was Mario (i think) and he was on the most right platform on Dreamland, and i was below him. I used Samus' UpB and broke his shield...but when he hit the ground...the ledge canceled it! stupid ledge took my shield break stun!!!
