I don't even know how long. Depends on how fast the player can beat it. Possibly even LONGER?

someone in nintendo said it in an interview or sumthing, i also heard it on a show, but i cant find where those were so you will have to take my word on it... Um but for good smashers it will prolly take like 5-7 hours, but they said 10 hours...

It doesnt really matter how long it'll be just keep in mind its going to be awesome....But I can imagine its going to be long because all of the cutscenes and choices you make....I think you'll have to play it a lot in order to see all the outcomes to the events.

See? This is a thread with good responses. He wasnt unecessarily flamed, and wasnt told "lol nub, rumorz ftl!"

All the above posters ftw!

This is also how most threads like this should turn out, imo.

It was said in some Karain site that said it was in some mag but a scan for said mag was NEVER seen. Check the Rumor topic, it's there.

Wow 10 hours? That blew my mind away.
I was expecting something on the lines of an hour or 3 at max with different paths (so you would have to play it more than once...Unless I'm reading this wrong...)

it was in an article of corocoro magazine that sp translated
Correction it was just something posted on some Korean site with no proof. The problem is people in the west seem to think anything said by an Asian site MUST be true after all Asia is the gaming Mecca of the world right?

It'll be 10 hours+ when you take branching paths into account, but I don't see how one playthrough can be longer than 3-4 hours even if you take your time.

It's a sidescroller, and most sidescroller levels are 5-10 minutes tops. Of course, there could just be a ridiculous amount of levels, but since we haven't seen the actual magazine that said this, I'm not buying it.

yeah, i also read this in the "rumors run rampant" thread that's around here somewhere at the top of the list as a recent thread.

It might be rumor...but hopefully a rumor that turns out to be true. This will make Brawl a much more deep game than people would think. With 5-10 hours wihtin the Subspace Emmisary mode, it would surely make up for the lack of story behind the other games.

Of course, 64 and Melee didn't need ANY story whatsoever to make them ridiculously good games, but it would be really nice to have this time around.

Let's hope we get a nice LONG story mode to play. With the "powering up" of the characters throughout subspace emmisary and the video clips, etc...it's looking to be a long journey through this mode.

It will take me longer since it has taken me a great while to beat Galaxy (still only at 90 stars). Comet levels kill me. (at least the later ones).

Sakurai recently said he will make and improve SSBB as optimum as possible.

He also said there will be many playable characters, more than you can imagine, and he said the team is still adding and programming characters. There will be more 3rd party characters too.

The combo control, he said, is relatively easy to control
But to those who already played Melee, he recommends the GC controller

The best news is that SE will be in the best quality that is fun to play alone. It takes more than 10 hours to complete the story mode.
This is the quote I think you were looking for, it apparently originated in Famitsu magazine.

Twilight Princess was said to be 100, minimun 70 hours to complete, in my first playthrough I just used 48 hours, and now I can complete it in less than 15 hours, the games will always be shorter than they say.
I'm guessing that the Subspace Emmisary will be about as long as Starfox Assault, wich you can perfectly complete in one sitting.

U know if u play VERY slowly, it will last 10 hours. 10 hours for a fighting side scroller sounds a bit crazy to me.
