It still kinda annoys me when people are setting Corrin or Bayonetta as their mains before they're even out. For all we know we could have another Roy or Palutena on our hands.
Pretty much this. I stuck with Robin from Day 1, well before the buffs, because I knew she would be the character that I loved playing the most. I'm a very sporadic tournament-goer, and I don't place amazingly when I do go, but the fun of the game for me lies mostly in seeing Robin flash her smile and bring the sass on the victory screen. And if I don't get to see that (which happens lol), at least I can be satisfied in the knowledge that I made my opponent fight tooth and nail through a hellscape of magic for their win. I'm inclined to believe that I will have similar feelings towards Kamui due to her winning character design and very distinct looking moveset (aside from the parts she borrowed from Marcina at least. XD). I can't wait to see how they feel in this game!
I feel the same. I like Robin so much that I don't care if he's "viable" or not, I want to use him because like that he's a love letter to FE. Lucina is my second favorite FE character (go Owain), so I use her even if Marth is "better." Roy has been my boy since Melee, so I made him work for me.
I know I'm going to love Corrin because I already love all that Fates has to offer. Maybe his playstyle won't gel (jel?) with me. And maybe he's low tier trash, but I'm going to use him anyway until I make him work.
(But sorry, Corrin, Roy is going to be my main alongside Robin until further notice. He is my boy, after all.)

You weren't there in the final days of the waifu war. You never saw what was born. But if the waifu lock is broken, then everything's coming through. Not just the Azuras, but the Tharja Degradations, the Horde of Severas , the Nightmare Oboro, the Could-Have-Been-King with his army of Felicias and Floras; the War turned into Hell! And that's what we've opened, right above SmashBoards! Hell is descending!
I think she tries way too hard to be sexy.
Like, to the point that she just looks really off. To me, at least.
She's also almost on the border of being one-dimensional. Depending on how the localization team does with her, she could grow on me as a character, but from what I've seen with her she seems a bit too obsessed with Corrin.
Really don't care about the sexiness. From what I've seen, her stats are very solid, she retains her usefulness even late-game, and is the defining member of a new class that combines two of my favorite things in FE: Wyverns and Dark Magic. These things alone are enough to make me consider her.
She's heavily traumatized from her past in the Nohrian Court.
Garon's concubines fought amongst each other for better political standing, and used their children as part of the game. It's implied that Camilla may have had to kill her own half-siblings to survive. Eventually, she and the other three siblings were the only ones left, and they forged a very strong bond with each other. She's obviously not all there, mentally, anymore. She latches onto them, and to Corrin, for stability and peace of mind. Late into Birthright, upon having to fight not only Corrin, but also Elise, she pretty much has a mental break and passes out. Would hate to see her reaction to Elise and Xander's deaths. For folks who can read between the lines, she's more than just T&A. I've dealt with depression and mental issues myself, and they aren't fun.
That is of course, if the localization leaves these aspects of her character alone, and doesn't just make her 100% fanservice.

And it annoys me when people drop a 'favorite character' because they aren't as 'good' as they thought they'd be. It's distressing how many people jumped ship from the Mewtwo boards when they found out he still wasn't hurr durr Super-God Tier.

To be fair, I wasn't expecting something like PM 3.02 Mewtwo(Smash 4 is nowhere near ready for a Mewtwo like that), but he had... problems on release. With his recent buffs, he's actually worth giving a second shot.

I'm glad that at least Leo lives. I can see the two of them becoming very close as they support each other after the death of their siblings. At that point I could see Corrin reconciling with the two of them too... both sides are tragic, but the Nohrian family after the Birthright storyline seems almost exceptionally tragic- at least Ryouma and Takumi were both warriors, poor Elise never stood a chance.
I also like the part about Camilla and the siblings latching onto each other to survive. It helps to explain the attachment that Elise has to Corrin too.

Really? I assume NoA won't just make her fanservice; I already liked her design but I look forward to Camilla's character depth.
On the second point, I agree entirely. All my actual "mains of varying degree) are Shulk, Mac, Ganondorf and Ryu. All of these are characters I absolutely love from series I adore just as much. (Ganon being my favorite video game villain)
So despite 3/4 not being amazing I've still put more work into them than anyone else, and look forward to doing that with Corrin no matter how they turn out.
Granted, I know people can play to win too, but the annoying part is talking about how X character is your favorite and maining the **** out of them and then abandoning them if they're sub-Mid tier.
I hope all the Bayonetta fans aren't as disappointed if it turns out she's not as good as she looks.
I kind of wonder that as well. Although it says that Azama is a monk on the official website. View attachment 94155 View attachment 94156
Even though it's incorrect, as monks have access to light magic and he can only heal, which makes him more of the priest class.
stop, i don't want to see Azama. Asama was sooo much better imo and i know it is a letter change, but the z does not feel right. We have Azama and Azura, at least change it up more than making it closer.
Not that I cared for the skinship feature, but I find the news about its removal to be rather dubious at best. After all, the news did come from Kotaku of all places.

That's my stance on it, basically. I'm neutral on it, but this is increasingly seeming like Kotaku willfully jumped to conclusions to get a few days' worth of attention.

All the signs point to Kotaku lying, from the grammatically incorrect "Japanese original game" in the supposed quote from the Nintendo rep (which, BTW, the quote from the Nintendo rep looks paraphrased) to this image from an IGN video (I'll post the image again for those who haven't seen it)
That ! shows a new session of skinship/FE-Amie is ready. Since skinships affect a fundamental part of Fates, the Supports, i can't see Nintendo cutting it out without replacing it with something else.
Edit: I know an IGN moderator claimed skinships were removed from the game but an IGN moderator also said Sonic was unlockable in Melee so........we'll just have to wait for an official statement from Nintendo/Gameplay footage.

Mewtwo's real fans should have just been grateful and glad that he was back in the first place. But most of them drop his ass the moment they find out he's not perfect. Mewtwo has flaws, yeah, they frustrate me too (there is no goddamn reason that the 269 lb pokemon should be lighter than the 2-dimensional guy) but I learned to work around them. I said I would main Mewtwo if he came back, and I have, issues or no. It pissed me off to no end to see so many of Mewtwo's "fans" pack up and head for greener pastures, and to see the social degrade in to bitchfests and constant whining about how bad he sucked.

Yes, the FFXIV crew is so great... XIV is what I'm using to distract myself from thinking about Fates. I can't see many other teams having half as much concern/love for their material as the XIV team though- there are so many careful FF references in the game. Fates' localization team seems to be good so far, but they've missed some strange things that leave us fans scratching our heads. One example is breaking naming themes when giving Lazward the name Laslow... they could have gone the blue route or the Norse god route, but they made up their own random name. Likewise, they've repeated some names as some earlier FE games, which are likely not cute nods and instead are them not realizing it. That said, I think they'll do a fine job.

This reminds me soooo much of my old Samus days. I know a handfull of smashers (myself included) in my region alone that started out as Samus mains and all thats left of our old main is the occasional Samus Ditto for funsies. Most of the time we laugh and cry together about that character...
However, we are still diehard Metroid and Samus fans. The same may apply to those Mewtwo fans, so please be careful when putting the word fan in quotation marks.
If my very minimal knowledge of Fates is telling me anything, I believe it's because Camilla wants to be a mother-figure to Corrin.
Which makes it all the more awkward, when you consider everything.
That's the justification, but you don't see her obsessing about Elise - who also doesn't have anyone else to serve as a motherly figure, by the way - the same way she does about Corrin.
As far as the depth goes - I didn't mean to imply that she didn't have any depth, just that it's masked by her focus on Corrin, which I find to be kind of disappointing. But again, this is only what I know from a select few translated supports I read('cause I'm a dork), so maybe I'll have a different experience with her when I actually play the game.
Yeah, I recently became a regular there again and it's calmed down. I think "vocal homophobe" whom of which I won't name still pops up from time to time, but not often as he used to. There's a lot less negativity overall.
