Controller Question

Just out of pure curiosity, as a fellow Luigi-user, I was wondering what controllers you guys use when playing as Luigi. I personally did not own a Gamecube, so I use a WiiMote + Nunchuck.

P.S. Is there any way to put a poll on this post? I'm sorry I'm new to the forum.

Personally, I prefer the wiimote+nunchuk combo, but a lot of people use GC controllers. It's not that bad once you get used to it.

I think GC is the only way to do it. Most people are like that, Wiimote and Nunchuck kind of makes sense, but sideways is ******** and I've never tried classic.

Classic is really similar to the GC and is useful if all your 'Cube controllers are wired and don't reach the couch. I've heard the waggle smash attacks were quite responsive.

The thing I like about WiiMote + Nunchuck is that I can be far away from the Wii and have my hands apart from each other. I'm speaking hypothetically, since I do not own a GC controller, but I would imagine that my hands woul cramp after a while. The nunchuck feels really good in your hand.

I think that the WiiMote alone is completely screwed, I can't imagine ever using it.

As a previous user of the Wiimote+Nunchuck, I can attest to how awesome it is. If you turn the D-Pad into Smashes, your aerial game will improve substantially. This way the tip of your thumb rests on the center of the D-Pad while the base of your thumb rests on the A button.... it's like having your hand on BOTH the C-Stick and A button on the GC Controller at the same time!

Even though I love the W+N control, I switched to the Classic Controller to allow me to do Jumpless Rising Cyclones; pressing B repeatedly quicly enough on the bottom of the Wiimote is just impossible. Some ATs are just more difficult or impossible on the W+N. Other than that, it's a fine option.

The Classic is just as good as (if not better than) the GC Controller, so you have that option if you don't want to buy a CG Controller.

GC controllers are like glass, I have SEVEN of them and two work...

I have a classic controller but I have yet to use it in Brawl. If it's any better I'm willing to switch.
Also, it has a grip attachment you can buy so if fits more like the GC controller, I have no clue why Nintendo made it so uncomfortable to hold, but with the grip it feels like you have better control.

My personal list of Pros and Cons for switching from CG to Classic Controller:

PROs (from most important to least important)
Y button right above B button, allows Jump Canceled B Specials, like OoS FJPs, without Tap Jump.
Two Z buttons means an extra button... useful for ATs.
Right Analog "C-Stick" closer to the face buttons for quicker use, and more comfortable too.
No chord to the Wii means people wont trip over the cable and almost drop your Wii.
No chord to the Wii means it wont add to the cables braiding as people pass around the controllers.

CONs (from most important to least important)
So small! No matter how used to it you are, it's still not as comfortable as CG (unless you do as Kig says).
Analogs so low that your thumbs might need a week or two to adjust to "where is up". *
New layout and positioning of buttons will make you suck for a few days as you get used to it.
Plugging and unplugging GC when passing around controllers for turns becomes a hassle.
You have to put a Wiimote in your pocket or find some other place for it.

* Your left thumb sort of turns sideways to reach the lower Left Analog Stick and the motion it used to make to move "up" now results in "up-right" diagonal. The right thumb is already used to this low position, though.

I must say, though the entire list may be incomplete, the CONs are mostly things you can overcome by "getting used to it".
