Planet Piss
Smash Journeyman
It's possible to use the analog to sh and play fluidly at the same time. By using the analog as Fox, you no longer have to wait for your thumb to move from a jump button to an attack button, nor do you have to adopt an alternative controller-holding style. It's extremely difficult, but when learned properly, jumping out of the shine (doing shine attacks and combos in general) has much more potential, because the the shine and moves thereafter are one continuous motion. Another interesting note is that while using the analog to sh, one can dash, shine, and more easily exit the shine fast enough so that Fox still has plenty of forward momentum, even after a wd or wl. When used practically, one particular exploitation of this is the shinedrill. No, not drillshine, shinedrill. Read your opponent's roll (for example) by dashing and follow through by shining and jumping out of the shine quickly enough to combo with a drill, thus preventing the opponent from having the opportunity to slide away (neglecting the possibility of SDI, of course.) Oh, and did I mention that doing this is extremely difficult? It's extremely difficult.
Note: This method is only preferable alongside use of the c-stick. It's too difficult to both jump and control attack direction with the same stick.
