Majora's Mask. Quite possibly the best Zelda game, and in my opinion, the best.

But what is it that makes this game so much better? Could it be the Story, the Difficulty, or the Originality? Actually, it is all of these combined. These, are the three main aspects of a Zelda Game in my opinion. They are interdependent. Without one the other will fail. I don't feel as if gameplay is a major factor, because it will not really change. Even from transition of console to console, Zelda remains the same style.

Let's take a look at Twilight Princess now. The Story wasn't bad at all, the originality was there, but the difficulty. It was no challenge at all. If you were like me, and beat the game in mere hours, you know what I mean. I really feel there is no more discussion needed about this game. It was so easy that, I didn't even feel it had a replay value.

Now, let's compare it to MM...

The difficulty in MM has yet to be rivaled by a single LoZ game. It was clearly difficult, frustrating, and addictive. There were parts that were ridiculously difficult on first go. So after you beat it, you wanted to go back and see if you could do it better.

The story, while a bit lacking, was fantastic for how it was played. Put it in a run of the mill LoZ game, and it wouldn't be good at all. But having 3 Days to do all of it, made it a challenge! You had to go back and forth, and back and forth. Backtracking and meandering back to where you had already been, because you didn't have enough time to do something. This is where the interdependence comes into play. The difficulty is aggravating you, as the clock goes by. The story and difficulty together MADE this game.

You've heard of the Seinfeld Curse. I give you the LoZ Curse. No game will match it, if they continue to dummy down the difficulty.

...this would be a lot more detailed and lengthy if it wasn't almost 3am. I'll fix it tomorrow. *yawns*

It wasn't impossibly hard, or extremy hard. But compared to TP?

I think that's more of a case of TP being notably easy than MM being notably difficult.

No, because even compared to others it was harder.

It was pretty hard difficult to me. It took me a while to beat but it was one of my favorite games =o.

Just curious, but when you say you beat TP in "mere hours", what exactly are you talking about in terms of time? Cause I'm a seasoned Zelda vet who had little to no trouble with TP on either of my 2 playthroughs, and yet each still took well over 20+ hours. I wanna say 30+ on the first one. It may have been easy, but it was far from short.

I could go on for hours about what makes MM one of the best games ever made (not just best Zelda game, either). But it really wasn't that hard. Slightly harder than OoT, true, but still nothing compared to LttP.

And the hardest Zelda of all is by far Zelda II.

IIRC, mid twenties. But for a game like that it should be much longer. I had way more logged into WW.

I'm actually gonna follow Chaco here and say that it was hard - I never actually completed Majora's Mask. >: (while I did complete LttP back in the day)

However, I find Wind Waker to be a substantially better game, due to it's radical differences from the other games... It's style and uniqueness really jump out. Other side characters actually have something noteworthy of a personality (Ganondorf and the king of Hyrule, in particular). Too bad that Phantom Hourglass didn't nearly live up to it's name.

F***! I was gonna do this!

Oh well, if you don't do it justice, which is most likely since it's impossible to do so, I'll fill in too, my friend.

MM is the best Zelda by far, and everything about it is practically an artform. No, I'm not biased at all in saying TP fails compared to this game.

This thread is so true. Majora's Mask is the best game.

The story itself was awesome, just a bit short. Doesn't matter, because you have the amazing amount of masks and side-quests. The game could be frustrating/hard, yea.

Epic winrar, Spirit Tracks is gonna fail so hard. Trains in Zelda. Really?

The story had an incredible amount of depth, and a short, dense story is better than a longer, shallow as hell one, like TP's.

The only thing that redeemed TP was the Song of Healing on the howling stones and Ganondorf's epic badassery in Hyrule Castle.

Every Zelda game I've played rocked.

I haven't played Majora's Mask in FOREVER because I somehow lost my N64 Expansion Pak.

But A Link to the Past is the best Zelda game, no contest. :]

I need to try playing Majora's Mask more, but it confuses me a little bit. And, I'm not going to even try to get further in it until I get an N64 cartridge of it, rather than just playing off of Collector's Edition. Seems interesting, but as far as I've gotten (which isn't very far, so I guess I can't really make a decent judgment yet, but I'm going to pretend like I can anyways) it hasn't intrigued me much.

Twilight Princess was easier than most other Zeldas, but I still love it. City in the Sky. Enough said. I've replayed that dungeon twice, for a total of three times, and I want to do it more (yay for downloading save files that start at that dungeon). I mean, I need to replay the entire game anyways, but that dungeon in particular...I love it.

But yes, I have to second Asdioh. ALttP > All. The first Zelda I played was that game's remake on GBA. **** it's hard, but I know the game really well now (I've played through it...I wanna say five times?) and it wins at life. I really need to get a copy of the original SNES version.

But, I pretty much love all of the Zeldas I've played, though 1 and 2 utterly confuse me, I haven't gotten to play Awakening much and so has the same effect, and I don't think I'm far enough in OoT to be drawn in. Once I have more time/get the original games and will actually allow myself to try and get far in them in the case of 1 and 2, I can probably make a statement without exceptions.

And I just realized how neurotic I sound talking about how I won't play a game unless it's an original, rather than on Collector's Edition/VC. Oh well, I always knew I was neurotic. >.>
