The characters I hate facing the most are Puff, Pikachu and Yoshi.
Yoshi isn't that hard to beat, but meh I don't like him.
Pikachu, well I think you guys know why that isn't a fun game (too much D being played)
and Puff is annoying to face cause I can't seem to finish Puff well.

Why is link so low? I know the camping and projectiles are annoying, but when you finally catch one it's pretty fun.

I personally dislike playing against puff the most, for all characters except puff dittos. I also dislike playing against floaties like samus, luigi, or mario unless I am fox or pikachu.

Fighting a good link with Doug is like charging some trenches in WWI. I mean, even if you have overwhelming force, you're gonna get HURT before you can get in there and kill some dudes, and when you see who you just beat, and at what cost, you facepalm. The matchup is so bad that you get no satisfaction out of the win, and you get knocked around by annoying little boomerangs and bombs and pointy aerials for twenty minutes before you get one of those super-satisfying (not really) shield-Bthrow kills. You can't even really do cool combos on him (on hyrule at least) because he falls kinda fast and is fairly heavy. Personally, I get much better combos on Doug, fox, pika, yoshi, and maybe even ness, kind of.

Oh, you can combo him. I'm not saying it's hard to win. You just can't do supercool stuff like you can on other dougs, for example.

They're actually exactly the same weight, if I remember AntD's data right, but Link falls faster. Eh, matter of personal preference I guess.

Yeah those charts he released a while back showed all that data, I'll go dig them up.

If i remember they are not to far apart in fall speed. Not enough to say it really alters the combos too much.

WAT?????????????????????????? Falcon combos link almost as well as another falcon. WAYYYYYYYYYY better than pika and ness, and still better than yoshi or fox.

Link is floatier. See this video, and try to do the combo starter on falcon. You'll see that it's a bit harder.

For another example, try doing this one on link.

.
You'll see that it's harder to connect that first fair because link is floatier

I mean, what in particular works on falcon but not on link?

I generally group Link/Falcon/Fox in the same combo category, but the chart expresses their nuances well

(fall acceleration, then max falling speed)
Fox: 4.0, 60
Falcon: 3.4, 60
Link: 3.2, 64

with the lowest falling acceleration of the three, link will be floatier for short periods of time (i.e. in a combo chain).

however, since their max fall speeds don't exactly correlate, during recoveries it can throw off both the recoverer and the edgeguarder. For instance, Fox will appear to drop really fast at the start, so your mental calculations, conditioned by the real life laws of physics, will estimate Fox to be lower and less likely to recover than he actually ends up, thanks to his speed capping out early. There's definitely been quite a few times I didn't think Fox would get in range for his UpB, but was proven otherwise. And then you have Link, who starts off drifting compared to the other two, but toward the end as you get closer to the edge he sinks like a rock. And then that UpB you thought would make it falls just short.

I find Link, falcon,Yoshi, and fox all generally combo very much alike, but Yoshi and Fox are definitely harder for some combos, and can escape others.

Pika, Ness and Kirby all combo the same

What exactly is "X-Air Resistance" and why does link have NONE lol

I'm not completely sure, but I like to believe it means that when Link gets hit off the stage he goes farther than the rest of the characters due to less air resistance. Yes, it serves no other purpose than that. Sakurai strikes again.

Well, her x-air acceleration is the highest, so it would counteract the resistance. To what degree, we'd have to work out the mathematics.

You guys aren't gonna let me get away with my dignity intact, are you?

I guess I'm just so used to Doug dittos that link matches seem weird to me, because he's so close and yet so different. I always try to do falcon combos on link, whereas I have little combos that I like to do on ness and pika which are pleasing to the eye and joyous to the heart.
