Not gonna lie, whenever I see a youtube link in a relevant thread, and it's not smash-related, I get woefully disappointed.
I don't get disappointed, but irritated... I'm glad most of the time I know it's an irrelevant vid and don't watch it. I could understand one can hate falcon combos if he could do them all easily (the same goes to every char btw), otherwise I don't see how they are more annoying than any other characters.

I personally love technical and not too long combos, like these:

So dirk is a positive word?

It just sounds so... negative.

Also, goddamn those combos are impressive. Super bummed about the Nair>Dair>Dair>Uair>Reverse Fair... that's exactly how one of my new combos looks. It's on Link, though... and Dreamland... so maybe it's different?

what are you talking about. star king ***** with falcon. and I dont understand the logic with: if your not doing a combo easy you cant find it boring to watch or play against? I cant play ice hockey. I must love to watch it :troll:

**** YOU!! I'm been meaning to co-sign this guy in the last few days.

Anyways, so yea. His Falcon combos are really good, and he's on a rise in upload frequency. I'm like why does this guy only have 25 subs :urg: .

So everyone sub to him now!

InB4The64sectionAlreadyAreThose25people...

Also on a related note, difficulty and creativity usually go hand in hand with combos. Combos that are really difficult are usually really fun to watch IMO.

Oh, and Olikus is the man.

I don't think this is the case at all. Especially with Fox.

Also I don't think you can always tell difficulty by looking at a video. I know some of my combos were harder to actually perform than they may have looked, often because one section that looked easy required precise timing to keep the combo going or precise positioning to make sure that the combo wouldn't mess up down the line.

^^He wishes.
Obviously if you look at his vid comments you can see me and other peeps from here, but there should be more :p .

Fox kinda doesn't count lol, 'cause all of his combos are gonna be technical (creative and typical).

I agree that MOST people can't tell difficult combos unless they've spent significant time in training mode. Basically what Pete was saying in that other thread too.

Did I say star king wasn't good? Let me rephrase it with more crude words then: if star king find them boring I could understand, but if you do, I can't. And concerning your ice hockey nonsense, are we on an ice hockey forum? Do you play ice hockey? No, you said it yourself. While in this case, we're still talking about the same game and you supposedly like playing this game.

Now I'm not saying everyone who can't combo has to be impressed. See, the problem with combos (a reason why they could not be impressive) is when it's hard to see the difficulty/technical part of them. This especially occurs with Mario/Luigi combos, or even Kirby's. You just see a million of drills and even if it were really difficult for them to land or to link, they're just stupid drills. That's why a lot of people will find them boring. With Falcon and Fox, on the contrary it's easier to see which part is difficult and what move was really technical. Example? The wabius combo I linked : two fastfall uairs from the Hyrule platform. No need to be in the backroom to notice it's hard to do. Or any shine to stuff repeated several times.

okay so you say Im so bad that i cant watch difficult parts in a combo? and even if that cruel acuse was true(which its not). It has nothing to do with why i find most of falcon combos boring to watch. A fox that plays super gay can still be very technical and doing lots of fancy hard stuff. That doesnt automaticly means that everyone should love watching it. I dont feel something is fun to watch, just because its hard.

So yeah, let olikus himself choose if he likes a combo or not.

You have some serious comprehension problems. Continuing this argument is pointless, especially with someone rephrasing everything I say and assuming the rest. I even wonder if you read my post or something.

That wasnt nice saying I have problems. Point is I can say falcon combo is boring. So if you love them, good for you. It was you that brought the argument up by telling you coudnt understand why I could find them boring. So at least its good you dont continuing it.

allso this time it ended well^^

Is there anything you don't know?
I don't know many things. I just played a ****ing LOT of ssb64 before I moved to melee in 2001, and I still have some deep affection for the game. And yes, I play kirby. I think picking an "easy" character with room for error is a great way to overcome consistency issues or a skill gap when playing someone more talented than yourself. At the very least, it's a decent strategic approach to the game.

Played a lot before 2001? You're definitely qualified to comment on common flaws in today's players, bro.
I grew up playing goldeneye64 and ssb64, and actually got a lot of money for goldeneye. i got to play isai in various points after i'd learned melee, but (to me anyway) the game wasn't nearly as expansive as it seems now so it wasn't hard to transition back to at first so i didn't do as awful as i'd expected. i didn't play isai the first 2 times i was at a tournament with him (game over, jan 2nd 2004 and smash 4 cash june something 2004) but i got to play him and sensei among others at getting schooled 2 (june 2005) and i still lost most of my matches with isai like 60/40 but i was able to beat sensei and all the other players that were there. then i played isai again at FC3 and lost like 70/30 to isai and moogle and a handful of others. then i played isai again at MLG atlanta in early december 2005 and I watched my character get ***** for 2 hours lol

yeah, i don't have much experience playing with other actual smashers at ssb64. except vs some random kid who drove from new jersey to money match me for $250? he was actually pretty good too, but i have no idea who he was. some pikachu player? it wasn't jerry or the other usual NJ guys though.

even now i live pretty close to the star king, but i'm not falling for that pit trap lmao

edit:

but yeah in short i think kirby is kinda limited in a lot of ways. even though playing around him is gay, you can still take your time and even if he gets you, you only take 70% or so, or 70-death but not both. i think kirby is easy as long as the opponent doesn't play around you but as soon as you have an experienced opponent it gets a lot harder. all IMO, not claiming to be an expert in any way.

upair combos are badass though.

you play kirby and seem to understand why he's stupid, you're already better than a good proportion of people who play online/competitively

He's not saying kirby's stupid, he's saying kirby's a bad (or at least overrated) character because Utilt only combos to 70%.

Nope.

He said Kirby was ****, but that the community ignores his shortcomings because lol U-Tilt.

I'm assuming that someone who has been exposed to Californian play has some inkling of Kirby's strengths.

Nope yourself.
