Kenshin Link Guide: 7/10
This guide goes in very deep on every attack. It describes every move very detailed and how they can be used at it's best. Only he could put some more combo's into it and some other information about L-cancelling and other advanced techniques.

EDIT: 10-3-2004 I'm gonna start reading all the guides, rating them and review them. This will take a while and I don't know when this is gonna be finished. I will rate them on a scale of 1 to 10. Note that it is my opinion here so don't be angry with me if you disagree.

Very Cool

Wow, that's alot of character guides Slayer Link! I'm surprised you went to all the trouble of getting all these guides, but I'm glad you did (and grateful you found my and S'mores old Kirby one). Sadly alot of them will probably be dated and not so useful (since alot of hidden tricks in SSBM and other character skills would have been discovered since the time they were done), but they're still good to have.

Thanks for looking through the backpages of the Melee Discussion room for these guides, I bet you've made alot of people happy (including me).

*sigh* I remember getting together with S'mores to do that guide, it was fun, but I bet I could have made my part of it better if I did it today...

Yeah, some of those guides are really outdated, especially the 3 that I happened to write. If anyone's got suggestions or critique for any one of my three guides, feel free to send me a PM.

My guides are probably a year old, and should probably be brought up to date.

I've got a proposal to make.

Seeing as to how we have so many guides for each character, someone should approve of it eing an actual guide before it can be posted here, just to prevent the surplus of guides. Believe it or not, I just read through EVERY single one of those guides, and I would say that around 7 or 8 of them, I wouldn't consider a guide, but just a simple move list with some obvious general information on the character.

However, it's not my decision to make.

Here's a link to that Mewtwo guide that was flashing by.. geez.. didn't realize Mewtwo was so unpopular.. Some Link guides have 20+ pages of repsonses(granted, Link's one **** popular character), but my Mewtwo guide fell like a rock off the front page within a day of it's completion.. There's also no Yoshi guide, and the lil' green guy really needs one what with his unique abilities coupled with his unique handicaps.

Dang! I just made a topic just like this but never completed it/posted it. Seriously. It had all of the important topics for Melee Discussion, plus guide links for every character, plus links to all the statistics and other helpful topics. It was called "Melee Discussion: Anthology of Knowledge". I may get around to posting it someday, actually.

all of you, keep this in mind:

almost all of these guides are over TWO YEARS OLD. let me repeat, TWO YEARS OLD. keep this in mind as you read them and think about the tactics that they talk about. most of these guides are over two years old, most of the tactics are outdated because of this. that is all, thank you.

I agree that it would be a good idea for guides to be managed and updated. However, I think we should keep in mind that although most of the guides were written a while ago, nearly all of them are still relevant. You need a good understanding of the character and even "outdated" tactics are useful in today's playing environment.
I personally have seen the tournament scene develop and I don't think that playing styles or techniques really become obselete, rather people find new ones and experiment with them, but the old ones never become useless.
I think it would be good if there was some sort of oragnisation so people don't spend their time making guides that aren't helpful. That means breaking down what is relevant and what areas need to be looked at, and assigning them to different people. This means everyone gets a chance to participate and all the aims of producing guides are fufilled.
I would be willing to try and update my guide a bit, but I think we need to have it really well managed and organised to ensure everyone produces good guides, and people should consider trying to make guides for characters who don't have that many about them.

Sorry guy, no guide for marth made by me. It was all Link from here on in bros. That was the Hiten Mitsurugi Ryu syle. That one was LONG ago, my first post actually hehe. These boards were MEAN back in the day seriously. hehe Oh and you can thank me for Link being number 1. So, there isn't any expert-level guide for Marth? ..That's too bad, Marf's my best. I might make a dorf guide, though. Marth may be my best, but dorf's gotta be my main, I know him through and through more than any other character. I'm going to go check out the other dorf guides, and see if there's need for another..
I'll try not to half-*** this one, if I decide to make it, but I doubt I could possibly remember all there is to know about Ganondorf. He's got so many chaining options.. and his toughness gives him so many defensive options..

That Dr. Mario guide wasn't really all that great, but it had some tips. I'm thinking it's time for a new one at best, so if anyone out there wants to create a Doc guide fine, but if not I'll create one, either with help of another or alone.

NJE789, please make a Marth guide if you think Corin's one is not good. IMO Corinn's guide is very good and another Ganon guide is really unneccesary because Shin ganondorf already made one and it is IMO one of the best guides ever made.

EDIT: Sry I ment to say Cory's Marth guide.
