In hopes of boosting olimar activity and really just an evolving oli metagame in general, I present to you the lately desyncing maneuver.
This is becoming all too good. I know it sounds lame, but there has to be a focus on consistently de-syncing the pikmin in anyway. We've seen usmash away from olimar, and then a fsmash behind olimar.... and now a usmash with 5 times the range of a normal usmash?

edit: From viewing it 50 times, it doesn't have anything to do with the Ike player. Lucas dash attacked the purple pikmin while it was desynched from Olimar and you charged an upsmash. You released it at the right time I guess.

I've got no idea why he jumped so high though...

Once again, it required it being hit. Unless the technique is able to be done controllably without the assistance of the other player its fairly limited. Also, remember this technique is only really easy to do with 1-2 pikmin. Any more than that and it becomes retardedly hard to get the right pikmin in the position to desync

I know how it happened, you can tell the lucas hit it when oli was charging, but... perhaps there's a way to learn it. What I'm saying is, yes it's situational 1v1, but what about teams? How would oli fair in teams when you can knock his smashes wherever you want?
lol, I know I'm being a dork... but there's really nothing else I can think of to hype this place back up... IT'S SO DEAD!!!! :'(

The more matches I play, the more stuff like this happens. So far my favorite is Fairing in the middle of fd while olimar is hanging on the edge.

I would suggest those with free time devot their life to perfecting this. It could be nobel prize winning.

I got hit as i was fairing and flew to the edge, but my blue pikmin continued the attack, hitting my opponent and landing on the stage, while i was hanging on the edge.

That happens a lot to me. Olimar getting hit and pikmin doing strange things. Like when Mario uses his cape on olimar when he's grabbing. Mario ends up behind Olimar, but still in a grab.

Ooh, you want to know something really weird about grabbing? Go on stage builder, put conveyor belts, and then grab someone on them.

Do it again but have someone stand on a falling block, have olimar stand on the edge of a regular block next to is so he's ALMOST on the falling one, and grab them before the thing falls.


I've been trying to exploit this into an IC-esque chaingrab. If only we had some momentum altering glitch. I can tell you right now that if wavedashing was in the game, inescapable CGs with Olimar would be possible.

yeah, what sucks is that the purple pikmin needs to get hit. I'm gonna start messing with this again and I'm gonna try to see if I can set this situation up. maybe it could be useful on someone who spams projectiles. it seems that the purple pikmin doesnt necessarily have to be close to olimar to perform the Usmash. I actually have a replay where I do a crazy pikmin desynch on a snake, it's hard to describe but basically the purple pikmin got hit by an explosion, then I did an upsmash with it while it was in midair. and the only reason I saved the replay was because i landed a 0-death combo on snake, i noticed the desynch after the fact XD

ill post it once i get the capabilities.

i also just thought of something as I was posting this. you know how sometimes you are really close to the edge and when you turn around, the pikmin will jump off the edge and then come back to you? maybe there is a way to desynch them like this without them needing to be hit? if we can figure out a way to pull this off without the pikmin needing to be hit... raaaaape.

Anyways, we know that it has to be hit to do it, but learning ways to bait people to hit them and knowing the range of it would be a great asset.

yeah, the replay is actually on my friends wii, i just got a wii a couple of weeks ago and i havent gotten around to giving him my wii number or anything. ill have him send it to me and then ill send it to you and you can put it up.

like i said, there is a 0-death combo i do in the replay, i don't want you to put that up, only the desynch portion of the video. the 0-death is going in my combo video which will be released at a later date ;)

ZOMG, maybe we can finally liven these boards again to flourish like they once did in olden times. (lol). Anyways, I know it was jsut another desync video, but we really do have to keep looking into things. We can't just wait for someone to find something out and then copy it.... we should be constantly looking for new things with olimar. It can't be ridiculously hard, he's such a complex character.
Props to DanGR who has been posting 3 million threads to keep activity :)

anyways on topic: yeah this thing rules. i might go back to olimar for doubles if I can figure out a way to make this work effectively.

I just discovered an extension to pluck canceling while I was trying to recreate this. A vid's on its way. ^_^
Seems we both may have discovered the same thing at the same time. What I found is sort of useless though and uses the buffering system with lagless plucking. Hopefully its not the same thing.
