The movie looks like a rip off. First inaccuracy in the comercial (surprise they actually showed an inaccuracy in a commercial. That usually happens in the movies) is that the book itself is a bed time story with hints that it may be real. In the movie it is just the story of some nerd who makes a weather machine and turning out horribly wrong making giant food fall from the skys. People if you have respect for the book PLEASE do not watch it

Trust me the book is WAY different from the movie. Most of the way it is told is different... sure some events do happen like the school but trust me it is a CHILDREN'S BED TIME STORY. Not some guy who makes a weather machine.

It's not like the producers of the movie had any intention of tricking the fans of the book into thinking it was going to be true to the source material. They're not concerned with that. They just saw the concept from the book as a good jumping off point for a kids movie. They're two separate entities. Though the movie isn't really catching my eye, it looks like a perfectly fine family film, independent from the book. The "inaccuracies" shouldn't deter anyone from seeing the film.

This is also totally in the wrong place.

^ I love your sig up there. Even though again I think it has inaccuracies (did i say i was a book purist meaning that if a movie isnt accurate its not good) but Im still gonna watch Where the Wild Things Are just to relive all those days I just had the book on my lap flipping through the pages. By the way I never got the plot of the book. Its this kid in his room but how did trees grow or was it his imagination?

Hmm I just might go find the book in books-a-million and read it right quick. That "Where the wild things are" trailer was real weird lol but I loved the book as a kid. Wasn't it once considered a childs horror book or some kind of controversy? I remember reading about it once and my cousin was telling me about it

I actually have pretty high hopes for the Wild Things movie. The trailer and the featurette make me feel like it could be really good. But since you bring it up, I guess you have a point, because if they made a WTWTA movie that was as far removed from the book as Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs is, then I think I'd have a pretty big problem with it.

My perception of the book is that it was all his imagination, yes. Though I don't think that makes the adventure any less real.

@day-day: Yeah, there was some controversy over the book when it was first published (back in the 60's) because parents viewed the monsters to be too scary for kids at the target age (even though the kids themselves proved that to be garbage). Not to mention the fact that the book essentially encourages disobedience. BUT THIS IS A CONVERSATION FOR A DIFFERENT THREAD. :p

This movie does look terrible, and will never watch it. I haven't read the book either but still the movie looks like it was created by a 2 year old.
