I'm all for clones. You get a whole crapload of new characters with some slight differences, and it gives the players more choices and gets more fan favorites in the games. Falco and Ganondorf are supposedly back and will probably have even greater differences in their movesets, so being clones in the past helped them get into the game.

Some clone speculation...

Some argue Mario and Luigi are clones
Link's clone could be Young Link obviously
Gooey could be in as a Kirby OR a Yoshi clone
Screw Pichu, Raichu should be Pikachu's clone
Fox and Falco/Wolf
Bowser could either be Ridley or Bowser Jr.
Samus could be Metroid Prime a.k.a. Dark Samus
Peach could be Captain Syrup, Daisy, a number of people
Ice Climbers = Lolo & Lala
Meta Knight and Claus have similar themes
Pokemon Trainer - Rival, same concepts but with a different generation of Pokemon
King DeDeDe - Raphael Raven, to give Yoshi another rep
Ness and Lucas obviously
Sonic and Shadow

That's just a brief list right there... wouldn't you rather have those characters in as "Luigis" or clones then settle for the probable 35 character roster that's out there?

Maybe there will be 10 characters clone characters and the rest will be normal. In total there should be 50 characters. Dont you agree?

I'd only appreciate the existence of clones if they had the time and desire to design them while still maintaining the particular amount of effort they appear to have already put into everything. For example, if they had a roster of 35-40 "individual" characters, then perhaps the existence of clones ADDITIONAL to that would be appropriate in my eyes. HOWEVER, this is not a very plausible idea, because I'm sure there were additions and cuts from the roster as time went on, so its hard enough just to get the plain old characters in there.

Also, some characters are "clone like" as it is... For example, its likely that Ness will maintain the same moveset, making him similar to Lucas, but not exactly the same, especially in reference to standard attacks. Best case scenario in my eyes is a revamped special moveset for Ness. Then there are situations such as Luigi to consider... The original "clone", but by far the most welcome.

To cut this all short because I'm running late, clones will probably be present in brawl, but the kind of clones that have their own flavor, such as Ness possibly being a more "Classic" Smash Bros version of newcomer Lucas, and Luigi being Mario's taller, floaty brother, possibly with a vacuum.

But what would really blow my mind is a complete 180: Ness and Luigi are totally different from their counterparts!

I was kinda unhappy with clone characters when Melee first came out....

but honestly, they played significantly different then their counterparts in Melee. So much so that it really didn't matter that much. Same moveset or not, Ganon really was a very different experience that Falcon.

Also, keep in mind that clones fill up space when there wasn't time to make them full characters. I'd rather have some extra clones than not have them at all.

So I definitely just realized that I almost want Dr. Mario to return.. but Luigi-fied like Luigi was in Melee. We know that won't happen though, but it would be quite interesting, IMO.

Anyway, I think the clones make the game more interesting simply because it boosts the roster count. If not for clones, we might not have gotten Falco or Ganondorf in Melee. (Even though Ganondorf was supposed to be in anyway.. but if they hadn't done clones they might've scrapped him altogether)

I think to please the fans they might possibly add some semi-clones or they might have added them near the end of production to increase the roster number. I wouldn't even mind some real clones like there were in Melee. If it meant someone like Sigurd or Dark Samus could get in, I'm cool with it.

I would like it if there were really random characters chosen to be clones. I mean.. they could have Valoo from Zelda: The Windwaker be a clone of Charizard. Or they could have Midna (true form) and Micaiah be semi-clones or true clones of each other. Jody Summer could be a clone of Zero Suit Samus. I know people complained about Ganondorf being a clone of Falcon since they're from completely different games.. but hey.. if it means more characters, it's completely fine by me. My two favorite characters are already included (Ike and Sheik) so I'm pretty content with whatever comes, character-wise.

Wow Melee only had like Dr. Mario, Pichu, Roy/Marth (you can't really say which is the clone and which is notbut most people seem to think Roy is the clone), Young Link, Ganondorf, and Falco.

That's not "every other character".

And I think everyone's obvious answer to this question is that they would rather have all original characters, but I wouldn't want them to just completely exclude clones if it meant less characters. Imagine Melee with only the 18 original characters? Clones are not as bad as everyone thinks (except Pichu, they can take him out).
