Since i'm learning a new style it's best to choose what is the most efficient button..i know people say you can do anything..and that's true..i'm only now starting to claw because i have difficulty spacing double fairs..but i started out using X to jump and have now used Y for the last year..and can switch interchangeably..anyways if shai hulud or someone could give me some advice on what would be more efficient it would be nice...

basically i think the deciding factor is how to push the A button..is it better to use my thumb and take it off the cstick? but then i can't smash DI if hit..so i'm thinking it's best to just use my forefinger for everything...but i'm not sure what would be easier
to slide to A from..X or Y

i've started to prefer Y it allows for a more natural grip of Z/R...otherwise i would have to play with that hand basically like pushing buttons as opposed to holding it.

My problem now is trying to get autocancel nairs off the ground..shifting from Y to A seems clumsy..i heard from someone you can press A with the middle digit of your forefinger..but it doesn't seem to be very accurate.

Going to use Z...i guess this post can close now

Really, I don't know anyone who claws. I might have seen M2K do it when using fox, but pros (to the best of my knowledge) don't claw. IMO it's better to focus on mindgames than worrying about technical stuff (not that techs can't be done well without clawing).

I used to consider clawing like 4 months ago however, and I would jump with Y.

I think its just one of those things that if it feels natural for you you do it, you don't need to try to do it.

well, the thing is that i have trouble spacing double aerials with marth. I"m wililng to learn this handgrip just to play him..

but to be honest i tried out my new grip vs my friends today in real matches..and my skill is way down..shrugs but then i've only been using it for about 5 hrs now..on the one hand aerials feel devilishly easy to space...but waveshining and lasering are a no..and even with marth i find that using z to do nairs feels really weird..and i'm missing about 1/3 jumpcancelled grabs..and my shorthopping is at like 80% consistency. BUt i figure all this will fix in time..i'm still wondering if i should convert all my char to the new grip...

i really dont think clawing is useful. even with marth. just slide the bottom part of your thumb to the ctick afetr pressing x y

I never use clawing. With marth, I usually double fair with my thumb on x and sliding to the c-stick. It's not that tough with a bit of practice and it gives me better control of my spacing and DI when doing double fairs. WIth fox i use y to jump and just slide my thumb to b to double blaster.
