By the way, the reason shine makes a clanking noise when it "clanks" with moves that are more than 7% (or 8% or 9% or whatever) different is because when one move beats another due to the damage threshold, they still clank. The higher damage move just continues, while the lower one is stopped.

And the reason you don't get hit is because of the invincibility.

So shine is losing the trade, but luckily you're invincible.

I think.

makes sense to me. I always did wonder why some moves would clank and continue, didn't realize it was just based on percentage difference (hence why a charged falcon fsmash can beat marth's fsmash).

Pk thunder and Ness' fair have transcendent priority. Fair clanks with things sometimes because there is a very small hitbox inside of Ness hands that doesn't have transcendent priority.

Marth's side-B clanks with Sheik's needles (it's really weird looking), so I don't think it has transcendent priority.

Doesn't Fox and Falco's side B have something weird like that too? I mean it seemed like aerials clank with them sometimes.
No. Fox and Falco's side-B have normal priority, meaning they can clank with ground moves like most B moves can. The reason they don't normally clank is because the hitbox is way behind the character while they're moving. So if you time your move to hit them properly, it will never clank, but if you're too slow it will clank.

Maybe someone can just ask Magus about which hitboxes are transcendent and which are normal and which have other strange things going on with them. If anyone would know the details, it would be him.

I've used GnW D tilt to counter falcon punches on numerous occasions. I always found it funny when they clanked
