To be honest I'm gonna buy this game even if the roster is formed by the characters revealed so far only
That said though, I would be EXTREMELY disappointed if these characters don't show up:

- Shulk. He's essential. He's the protagonist of the best Nintendo game of the last generation, a new franchise, he offers a great possibility for moveset, stages and everything else. This is my first choice.
- Ridley. It's since Melee's reveal that Sakurai is taunting us. Just put him already. I would even accept the Other M version. Please?
- Sonic. Make him better, or leave him like he is in Brawl. Either way, he fits too damn well. I can understand Snake being cut, but with the partnership Sega/Nintendo, I would never accept Sonic being cut. I put him in this list because being third party he has more chance of going away. Obviously not having Captain Falcon would be incredibly bad, but I don't think that's a possibility.

There are a lot of other characters I would like to see, but these are essential imho. What are yours?

See username. I'll rage with such an intense fury it'll probably mark the beginning of Armageddon.

Ike and Mewtwo's exclusions will also make me rage.

Stupid exclusions which would also upset me greatly (which have some slight chance of being excluded):

Exclusions I wouldn't personally mind too much:

Honestly, even though he's one of the original 12, I could go without Jigglypuff. I think other pokemon would be nice.
Ike is relatively likely to be replaced. Marth, not so much, but still possible.
I'm not sure how much staying power Lucas has, but it'd be nice if the Mother series got a villain.

All other characters are either pretty much safe IMO, or I don't mind being replaced (Lucario, Toon Link, Olimar with Alph or Brittany or Charlie)

I completely agree with what you stated about Sonic. It would be pretty cruel if they ignore the Sonic Lost World Wii U and 3DS exclusives and the Mario and Sonic Olympic Games series. As soon as I heard that Pac-Man was supposedly added, it pissed me off and if I remember, Pac-Man doesn't even have any titles coming to the Wii U or 3DS and at this point I consider Sonic more a Nintendo character.

A Mario, Mega Man, and Sonic battle is a showdown every Smash Bros fan is waiting for.

Well, here's newcomers I'd be kinda angry about if they didn't appear:

-Palutena
She's like a must to me, and I've wanted her in the next smash even before the KI:U release, though said game made me love her even more. Sakurai was the head of KI:U and Smash (who also loved Viridi), so I would expect her to appear later since it looks like KI will be getting more attention, so that's also why I'm expecting the Goddess of Light to be another character in the near end. At the same time, i feel Smash needs more female rep (and hey, she's not blonde like the main ladies are), which adds to the reasoning. <3


Here's who I can live with and without:

-Bowser Jr
As one who likes Bowser, I wouldn't mind another Koopa around, and Jr is the right choice. I don't mind if he isn't in or not as I mainly want Palutena. Bowser Jr is also a little villain who definitely isn't a clone of Bowser with potential, and the game needs more villains too after all.
Of course as I said before, those are my only 2 wants. The veterans I want, aka Pit and Bowser, are already there, so I don't expect much.

Realistically I will buy this game no matter what. I managed to boycott Brawl for two years after they added 3rd party characters and cut Mewtwo, but eventually I bought a second hand copy for the good parts. So, taking that history into account:

They shouldn't remove any characters, they should just expand upon the brawl roster. This is my personal opinion though, I know there are others who wouldn't mind seeing a character being taken out of the roster :l .

Ice Climbers. The worst part is, I can see them getting cut. This is the only character cut that will actually make me not want to play as much.
Also, they need a new game. Kid Icarus out of freaking nowhere, Game & Wario out of freaking nowhere, so why no Ice Climbers game out of freaking nowhere?

On a less feasible note, since Wii Fit got a rep, I still have hope that, especially if Galaxy 3 is made, Rosalina will be in. Small, small hope, but Rosalina is my favorite newcomer possibility. Even if no G3, G1 and 2 are both in the top 10 best selling Wii games of all time. So yeah...

Well Game & Wario is basically the next installment in the Wario Ware series, so I'd hardly say it was out of nowhere.

I'm buying the game no matter what, but if anything would be able to make me wait more than a day to get the game it'd be the lack of Ridley as a playable character.

He's the only character I'm really passionate about, he's my favorite video game character of all-time, and he just has amazing potential.

As for veterans: Captain Falcon, Meta Knight and Wario. Not that any of them have a chance of being cut.

Ike and Snake would suck too, but it'd more so be a major bummer than anything else.

I have no attachment to Mother or Fire Emblem. They could axe both series in favor of new characters and it wouldn't make a difference. Kirby and Star Fox are classics and while I don't care much for them, I wouldn't want to see them go either. They can do whatever they want with 3rd parties, they're not essential; 3rd party is always bonus. While I wish I felt attachment to Game & Watch and R.O.B., I just don't... I would miss them, but if they were cut in favor of new ideas, I wouldn't complain too much.

As far as the current brawl roster goes, I honestly don't want anyone to be cut. After playing the game for 5 years, it would disappointing to see anyone go.

King K. Rool, Ridley, and Isaac are the closest I can think of. They are the only characters I felt Brawl was missing, and I've been waiting so long for them that if we don't get at least two of them this time around, I'll be severely disappointed. Oh, and Pokemon Trainer. I mained him in Brawl and he's a fantastic addition to the series. I don't want his Pokemon changed either.

Nobody would make me ragequit the series, but there are a few who I wouldn't mind getting cut to make room for newcomers;

-Lucario (I mained him in Brawl, but he's very generational and could easily be replaced with Mewtwo)
-Falco (Yeah, I know, but we don't need him. He's a Fox clone. Replace him with Krystal)
-Lucas (I like him too, but we don't need an Earthbound character for the sake of having an Earthbound character. It's a tiny franchise, one rep is enough.)
-Ike (Replace him with a more current Fire Emblem rep.)
-Dr. Mario, Pichu and Roy don't need to return. Not if they're clones. I liked the idea of Plusle/Minun though.

And I'd rather Snake not get taken out. He's on the cutting block right now due to the nature of his character, but I thought he brought a lot to Brawl.

- Ike (my most requested character for Brawl, Chrom would be a good replacement though)

- Captain Falcon (one of the faces of Smash)
- Sonic (if Pac-Man is in, he has 10% of being included. If Pac-Man is not in, he's 100% included in my eyes)

Veterans I wouldn't mind getting cut out:
- ROB (love him, but I am already liking Wii Fit Trainer more)
- Toon Link
- Wolf (like him a lot, but his playstyle is too similar to Fox/Falco, and he is no Falco)
- Lucario (cool character, but him leaving could open to door for Mewtwo coming back)
- Pokemon Trainer (cool idea but too much characters that are meh to me, except Charizard)
- Lucas
- Mr Game & Watch (probably the one I would mind more from this list)
