Can't get beyond "Now Loading" screen

I downloaded one of SuperMasterHand's character select screens (the one with the "special" character) and placed the sc_selcharacter.pac and sc_selmap.pac in the Menu2 folder. I also replaced my codeset with the one that he offered. Now my game won't get anywhere past the Now Loading screen. The screen stays black when the loader is gone and will not transition into the opening movie or get anywhere further. Can anyone help me?

EDIT: The zip was called CSS Background Texture (Space) (+ Custom CSS)

What were you using before?

Were you using the Brawl+ file setup?

Is your file extension:

private/wii/app/RSBE (P or J if you're PAL or NTSCJ)/pf/menu2/##

and

codes/RSBE01 (P or J if you're NTSCJ)

Spelling is important.

Check again and try and find a situation where it works

I am not using the Brawl+ file setup, I have other PSAs but no Brawl+ codes or .pacs. As for the file extensions, they are correctly spelled, and still no luck.

Did it work before? If it hasn't worked before chances are you're doing something wrong.

Anyhow, I recommend the Brawl+ SD package. It has a nice setup for everything you need and you can replace things like textures, PSAs and codes smoothly when you know the setup is correct.

It did work before, perfectly, and I just erased the sc_selmap.pac and it still didn't work. Now I'm testing w/o the codes. EDIT: Still the same problem.

I replaced everything with the Brawl+ setup. Still no luck. The disc works fine, separately from Homebrew Channel, and Gecko OS works fine, as I tested loading other games with it.
Can anyone help me with this?

the folder is pfmenu2, NOT pf/menu2. I have no idea why, just do it.

The code was probably meant to go with the files you were supposed to put there, and when they were the usual brawl ones, it crashed because it expected something else.

I'm pretty sure it IS pf/menu2.
My Mu_menumain.pac didn't seem to work until I put it in menu2.

Tested running the game without codes at all, got an Exception! (DSI) screen, but my files were still there, and all in the right places, in the Brawl+ setup, without anything else. What else could be wrong?

Use a different version of Gecko. Use 1.9.1 or 1.9.3.1 since they seem to be the most effective with Brawl.

Tested with Gecko 1.9.1 without codes at all, got through to the opening video. However, when adding a .gct with only the file replacement code v3.5.1 I still can't get through to the video.

You have to be putting your files in the wrong place, happened to me.

mu_menumain.pac goes in: E:\private\wii\app\RSBE\pfmenu2

Other one goes in: E:\private\wii\app\RSBE\pf\menu2

I removed the menu, character select, and stage select files, and yet it was still not working. Could it be a problem with my SD card? Or my game? I thought it was the codes, but then I removed all of the files, just leaving the code file with File Replacement v3.5.1 and the game worked, albeit only with that one code and no file replacements. I will check to see what happens when a new .pac is added.

I discovered what's wrong; I had to remove an info.pac. Does anyone have a clean one of these? And are these placed in info or info2 folder?

I use it for the names in-battle. Is there an chance that there is a clean one out there? I only had one when I got started and then I replaced everything.

Look for the thread titled All Brawl Files Except Texture Hacking Tools, the Mediafire folder there has a complete partition of every file. Your info.pac is found in info2, where you should also put it in on your SD.
