For anyone who hasn't seen this glory: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RTOH6-bjrXU

False and Mr. R consistently in this video show potential for her Dair to spike. I've seen very minimal information about this so far with most saying to it on stage to spike, but clearly there's way more to it than expected. THEY'RE DOING IT OFFSTAGE!!!!! This could be huge if some sort of guaranteed option is found for it or at least as a fun disrespect. I haven't the resources, time nor skill to try to test this, so I'm going to challenge all you super crazy specialists to take another look at it and find out if the famous suicide option is as bad as we originally thought.

Also a good thing to note, how the Dair was used around 0:20 where Sheik didn't fall fast but still spiked. That could work as a very fun tech to utilize.

dair's start up and its risk/reward makes it so it is not a good move to throw out. Its spike hitbox requires a large amount of awareness of positioning to hit and unless the opponent is at a high percent, sheik dies first. I also doubt there is a guaranteed option due to the rather small hitbox/ slow start up. At the very most if the opponent, say DI in and dont air dodge expecting you to wait for an air dodge or a complete hard read. At :20 I am not sure what happened, but I think it has to do with some jank in relation to the windbox canceling dtilt by pushing sheik off stage, and it somehow turned into a buffered dair or something of that sort. So yeah, dair is just at most a disrespect that you only want to do in friendlies/ know you can win (eg you have 2 stocks vs someone at 250% last stock)

The only reason why that dair worked at 0:20 was due to the windbox from the boomerang. Dair isnt practical as a spike by any means whatsoever unless there's some ridiculous factors in play (like megamans up b saving sheik) Dair isnt a good move by any means, but thats exactly why you should use it. No one really expects it, and can maybe even net you a kill if done right. But using as an offstage spike is pointless unless you're a stock ahead.

I suppose it could prove to be a good, flashy off-stage finisher to a combo. However, the risk is so high, I would only utilize it if I were a stock ahead or as a desperation-kill at the last second. Other than that, I just wouldn't recommend using it that often.

It's not always worth it.

I don't use it off stage so much but if you roll to the edge of the stage (so you are facing inwards) and short or full hop into Dair you can safely land back on stage. Meaning, from the edge of stage position, if timed correctly, you can spike a recovering opponent. A lot of people don't expect it plus you can jump out of shield meaning you can quiet safely wait and lure the opponent to try to recover above you. If you see them going low, as always, punish. (I love the off stage game)

Only use I commonly have for dair is doing it right before I land for people aggressively juggling me due to that half a second of a pause before going down. Outside of that the risk/reward just isn't worth it. Kind of just a once or twice a set thing if that.

Whenever I do throw out dair (which is close to never), I'll follow up with bouncing fish and it connects almost 100% of the the time if I extend or shorten the range appropriately.

I thought I would pop my head in here again.
One of the things that I have been developing in my own play style is using Dair as a spike.
Finding good opponents on the ship is a hard thing to come by but there is one guy who uses Fox that is pretty good. I can consistently spike him when he is forced to use Fire Fox. The cool thing here is his hit box will always knock me out of my fall. The result is he gets spiked and I survive. This also works on Link, ZSS, Bowser..... anyone with a multi hitting recovery.
The only trick is the timing. Oh and btw, the spike box is a lot bigger than what you would think.
Also, B-Throw> roll to the ledge> SH> Dair is a nice little mix up. You will always land on the stage this way. If they try to attack with an air attack that has a small hit box as they are DIing towards the stage you can possibly spike them.
