It's not an unfounded rumor. Apparently the interview giving out the name was edited shortly afterwards, but not before people caught it.

So it may or may not be canon, but it's what I'm calling him since it's the closest thing to a name he has.

But seriously, I like the name Hunter for the dog and Thompson for the Duck. A crazy Smasher duo named after a crazy writer. Plus Thompson is longhand for Tommy Gun, if I recall correctly, adding to the shooting theme.

I actually think the dog could be called Zaroff, named after a crazy hunter in the short story Most Dangerous Game, who makes use of aid from hounds often whilst hunting.

As for the duck, I haven't a clue.
