Can popo spike...?

i thought they were exactly the same, but i can't seem to spike with popos forward air, even under the exact same conditions as with nanas, but i couldn't seem to find anything confirming this on the forum

What if a different costume was used that let the player control Nana with Popo following? Would Popo spike, then? Or is Nana the one who spikes still? This difference could actually make the color choice important.

Popos fair doesnt have any redeeming qualities. Nana may be a complete tard, but her fair is still good
