Version 1.0 NTSC

-Flame Cancel is possible
-you cannot DI/Smash DI hits that do less than 1% damage because they dont give hit lag

Version 1.1 NTSC

-Flame Cancel is possible
-you cannot DI/Smash DI hits that do less than 1% damage because they dont give hit lag
-specific differences between 1.0 and 1.1 have not been uncovered

Version 1.2 NTSC

-Flame Cancel is NOT possible
-you CAN DI/Smash DI hits that do less than 1% damage because they give hit lag
-Varios bugs removed (link superjump, ic freeze glitch, etc)
Basically if you can flame cancel, you've got the version I want, same with link super jump

Contact me via PM with a price/questions you had in mind,
I'm looking preferably for one that is in good condition

thanks

Also if it's your only melee disc I can send you my v1.2 if you want
it's in good condition and I can't remember the last time if ever it has frozen

lol, how can i know my version lol
Check the code on your disc (as explained by phanna here).
00 is v1.0, 01 is 1.1 and 02 is 1.2.

I've got a 1.0, but I won't give it away. It was so hard to find one in France. I had to go to dozens of shops in Paris and ask to see the code on every Melee disc. I'm pretty sure you can find it doing the same thing, but be sure that every clerk will think you're crazy

How on earth did you even find a non-PAL disc off the shelf in France? That makes about as much sense as finding a PAL disc in local shops in the US.

Import shops I guess. Gametraders over here imports quite a lot so there's some NTSC games for various consoles.

Might be worth checking eBay and emailing sellers to check.

I have 1.0 JPN, found it by accident.

makes zelda look usable. it's scratched to **** though and crashes fairly often (like once every 4-5 matches) but only in the menu. weird.

i have several discs, but on one of my 1.0 versions it says '00 JPN' instead of '00 USA'. the same is true with other versions. does anyone know why they are different? /none4sale

The country after the 0-0X on the back of the disc simply refers to the place of manufacture, while the printing on the front of the disc dictates what territory it is for. The content is not different.

Anyway, something pertinent to the OP, my local Gamestop had 2 copies of SSBM, a 1.0 and a 1.1 copy. I picked up the 1.1 for myself, but if you want me to pick up and send off the 1.0 copy they have PM me and we can discuss something.

From what I recall, 1.1 has a fixed HRC to go all the way to 9999ft rather than break at ~>3000ft. That might be the only real difference though. 1.1 might be better to get if you're into that, but otherwise try to pick up 1.0; most gamestops with the game probably have one or the other, so try looking around.

I have a disc that says DOL-GALE-0-00 JPN on the back so its 1.0 i guess. it crashed once like a month ago so it works fairly well. If you send me an original disc of version 1.2 you can have my disc i guess, just write me a pm or smth.

Actually, it makes much more sense : games are often released in Europe later than they are in Japan or North America. Sometimes, WAY later (for instance, Brawl was released here 4 months after being released in North America, which was already 2 months after the release date in Japan).
For this reason (and because it doesn't cost much more as games are more expensive over here), some people buy imported consoles and games. And that's why we have import shops.
Of course, you won't find import games in video games shop chains such as our equivalents of gamestop, but most small businesses have some of them.

Why was a NTSC 1.0 there ? Well, it was not new, so I assume it was one of the very first imported version, and luckily for me, the guy who bought didn't keep it.
