Brawl Singles Rules:
Basics:
- 3 Life Stocks
- 7 Minute time limit
- Items are set to “Off” and “None”
Tournament Flow:
- all regular matches are best 2 out of 3
- losers and winners finals are 3 out of 5
- Grand Finals are 4 out of 7, Two sets to win for the player coming from losers side
- Tournaments will employ the DECK system (described below)
- Players who need to leave or take a break for any reason must report to the director or else they will be considered as not present for any matches announced when they are away.
- Players are allotted a maximum 15 minute break time when requested
- Tournaments will break for 30 minutes, once after the 2nd round of winners and losers are completed and before finals
Set Flow:
1.) Opponents choose their characters for the first match, double blind character selection may be called for the first match
2.) Opponents can choose to play a game of RPS to choose the first stage if requested
3.) Each player may announce one stage to be banned for counter picks of the set
4.) The loser of the first game will choose the next stage
5.) The winner of the previous match chooses their character
6.) The loser of the previous match chooses their character
7) Repeat steps 4-7 for all proceeding matches
**Please refer to stage list for list of stages that are Starters, Counter Picks and Banned stages
Deck system:
- The first round of players will have 5 minutes to report to their matches
- Matches will be called ON DECK at the time of the announcement of the first round. Players are expected to prepare or be at ready during the time that the match ahead is being played.
- Players who are not present or are unprepared when the match preceding theirs is called will be issued a 2 minute warning
- Players who are not present or are unprepared when their 2 minute time limit has expired will automatically forfeit that match
- If a player has forfeited a match in the winners bracket and losers bracket that player will be considered disqualified
Equipment setup, assignment and failures:
- Controller port disputes?? Need to discuss with the Director
- All wireless controller devices must have their batteries removed after each match to prevent accidental match interferences
- Players are responsible for their own equipment. Any malfunctions are the players’ responsibilities. Any stoppages for matches due to equipment failure MUST occur before a match, set or game begins or else a stoppage in the middle of a game will equate in an immediate forfeiture of the current game
Match Specific Rules:
- No player may choose a stage they have already won on that set unless it is agreed upon by both players
- Time out wins are determined first by stock then by percentage
- Ties will send both players into a 1 stock overtime match. Ties caused by Bowsers suicide claw will always result in a win awarded to Bowser
Glitch Restrictions/Constitution:
- Metaknight’s Infinite Cape glitch is banned
- Bowser’s suicide claw is allowed
- King Dedede’s standing/moving infinite grab is banned.
