I have a shirt that says, "Falcon Punch" on it, haha. More of a gym shirt than something I'd wear to go out.

I think that people should wear what they want, and if you don't like nerd wear, then don't wear it. You can go to a tourney and look normal. But if you're worried about what someone else is wearing, that might be an insecurity on your part. You should just represent yourself, and let other people represent themselves. Yeah, people are going to judge based on groups, but you wouldn't like it if the positions were reversed and someone told you to take off your shirt because it's not cool enough.

Kind of reminds me of a friend I had on Myspace (back when people cared about Myspace) who took me off his top 20 because of my Captain Falcon icon. "But...people were asking who the cartoon character was!" Precursor to facebook drama.

Where people get NOTHING.
I agree with every up until the last part (before the edit).

Who and what is cool is decided by society, not by yourself. I'm sorry, but carrying a PPG umbrella is not considered cool. Maybe you think it's cool, but the vast majority disagrees. So, we can all get along, respect each other, and even consider ourselves cool, but step outside of the tournament venue and take a walk and that disappears.

I constantly lose the game.
It's all about confidence and when you have the confidence to do what you want or wear what you want, you can make it look cool. No one harrasses me about wearing a big(probably dumb lol) Sonic face shirt. They either ignore it or it becomes a coversation starter, depending on where I am.

Teran's always got someone d-ridin'.

Subtext: I was bullied as a child.

Everyone who's cool doesn't give a ****, but not everyone who doesn't give a **** is cool.
Well I *****ed at him because he deleted the blog I was posting in just as I hit the sent button deleting my wall of text the last time. lol

I used to wear a red trucker cap to tournaments. But then again I've been using trucker caps since junior year of High School.

I have a little pacman plush I keep in my computer bag that I usually bring along to tournaments. My whole crew at one point each had a little plushie. Mogwai had a gizmo, Scar had a scar lion plush, and Cactuar had an enormous cactuar plush. Velocity blows for not having anything.

You know.

I don't even think it matters what you wear, as much as what you look like.

If everyone dressed professional and classy, but we were all 15 year old children, we would still look like 15 year old children.

If we look like a childish community, that's because that's what our community is mostly. If we look well polished, it's because that's how we are as people (and hell, the fighting game community isn't polished, they look the exact same as us from an MLG perspective).

So why try to change our face? We shouldn't be.

a PPG umbrella.
What is a PPG umbrella? Google images didn't help.

IAt least they have balls enough to be themselves and not care what people think.

The true mark of being boss, not worrying what some random mopes think about you.
I can respect that. It's a good thing to be yourself.

...And then someone brings something related to a show you don't like. You just rage at them in your head and pretend they don't exist.

Or is that just me?
It's not just you. My friend is a Sonic fanboy and constantly brags to me about his sonic shirt or will post random sonic music/ gameplay **** on my facebook wall. I don't care about it - stop putting that **** all up in my face hahaha :p

I always take a knife and since I use Sheik and she has a knife I guess I can claim that as representing my character.

In all seriousness, if I would start going to tournies I would probably buy throwing needles just for lols.
That would be funny and I'd respect that. Also, maining Shiek? High five! It's good to see character diversity :)

I've been making my own Yoshi hat
I'm not skilled enough to make hats and whatnot. Seems difficult and time consuming.

This appears to be becoming a thread of hate, i'm not trying to be offensive at all, I'm just wondering why some of the community does it. Is it to get into their inner child? To represent THERE side of the community? Just because? Once again, trying not to be offensive if I am.
I hear ya man. I haven't gotten at negative vibe from you at all.

You guys are just mad cuz you don't have any cool hats.
You're right. I don't have any cools hats, especially cause I got a big head haha.

Then gee whatever happened to clothing being a part of self expression?
I semi-agree on this. If people like to dress nice, you kinda get the feeling that they try to be a bit more classy or something. I personally like graphic Ts - something that gives me an urban feel. At the same time though, I'd like more nice clothes, which can represent me - it's just that they cost a **** lot. Cloths can be self expression but it sucks when you can't afford to completely express yourself.

I have a shirt that says, "Falcon Punch" on it, haha.
Even non-smash players acknowledge the epicness of Falcon Punch hahaha. Even if people don't know about it, it just seems like a fighting sort-of shirt I guess. I'd wear it around. Say anything about it and show'em what it means :p

I agree with this. My friends know I go to game tourneys but they don't judge and it's all good cause I try to take care of myself.

I'll be the first to admit that I wear a blue bandanna when I go to the few tourneys I go to. Why? Cause I use Snake when my Samus fails. Will people judge me? Probably, but I got the physique of Snake too, so they can **** off if they try and start anything :D Nah, but I like seeing what other people bring to tourneys. I wonder where they find that ****. Also, saying you play a game competitively and watching matches on youtube is nerdy enough. You're gonna look nerdy convening with a bunch of gamers, accessories or not.

Someone's a lil bit madddddddddddddddddddddddddddddd.
Or perhaps just a bit jealous.

I can punch people, but I haven't figured out how to make them catch on fire yet.

*runs*

Back on topic: Trying too hard to conform to what is perceived "cool" is simply insecurity or lack of confidence. A kid's party game-turned fighter doesn't need a "super cool" community anyway.
Very funny.

Are you ******** enough to want to get on my bad side?

Why does it matter if you wear/carry nintendo stuff again? o_O;

I've actually made friends carrying nintendo stuff and wearing nintendo shirts around school! It shows your interests and that brings in good people that have similar interests! It also keeps the people that would **** me off away! Is that not a win-win situation? :D

People get excluded for their interests. Yes. That's when you find a group that shares the same interests as you. That's how everything works. If the people that you're with don't like you wearing "little kid" merchandise, thats when you're like **** you and find other people to hang out with. It usually solves most problems XD!

Haha, true, but unfortunatly, my area doesn't have a huge smash scene... It's all Hillbillys and Black Ops kids. It's awful.
