What's your top score keezy?
2152754 (no damage run)

but i only play on emulator and apparently that doesn't COUNT

you underestimate pacifist. once you know the right spot to stand, it's really easy to do on link, fox, pikachu and sometimes giant dk if you are lucky (him upBing off the stage). of course getting all 4 to do it in one run is nigh impossible and in my run i think i only got link and fox to do it

Nice try @ getting me to reveal my secrets, ballin'. No go.

I'll upload a VIDEO of me doing a no-damage VH run if I can get a capture card or a video camera or something.
i would like to see that......

Emulator runs count as long as it is American version. If you say what character you did it with I'll put you up ciaza.

He did it with kirbs.

Full disclosure, I did all of mine back in January when I was a KB main, so they're all on emu =/

I thought that counted when I said them.

And Ima beat your score soon Ciaza.

friend of mine's. he asked me to throw it on here. i threw down a 1.37m on samus, not that high, with a 9'89 btt record on another cartridge.

what he's been doing as yoshi is abusing the hell out of neutral b. it's very easy to get a dk perfect, for instance; just stand on the right side of the map, B, shield roll to protect your teammates and not be wounded. same deal with metal mario.

what bonuses are worth getting to raise your score?

Next time I'm home and have N64 access I may go back and try improving some of my scores. I was only able to find my scores because I put them all on cyberscore a few years ago.

editing your posts is not the best way to make sure i see your scores. Double posts are fine in this thread if you have to add another score.

I agree with all you noobs 100%. I see the 55 also. But it's legit. I did that myself. Maybe the emulator was being dumb. I still hold the record for break the targets, Kirby.

Take a stopwatch, press play on the video at the same time as the stopwatch, press stop once the last target is broken, look at the time on your stopwatch.

Derp - I was implying that there is a margin of error when you use stopwatches to time things to the millisecond. In this case there's only a difference of two milliseconds between the claimed time and the real time. So my question is really "how can you tell based off of a stopwatch"

I don't think that's the issue is between 13'53 and 13'55. I think the fact that it does that makes it a possibility that the timer is edited into the video, and the game speed is sped up just a little bit to make the time faster. Not accusing MATTS! of doing that, but I have a hard time believing when the timer messes up like that. But hey, maybe that's how the timer works?

On second thought, this thread is completely honor code based, so if MATTS! says its legit, its going up.

You guys don't have to put it up if you don't want to. I mean it was done on an emulator, as some people see emulators as not a TRUE source of LEGIT world records due to save states, re-recording, etc.. Cause I already know people will put up a fuss over it... so it's best that it just stays off.

Maybe there should be a WORLD RECORD LIST for emulation, and a separate list for CONSOLE, and people should have to upload proof for it to be LEGIT, as if it's uploaded on an emulator for proof, it can be disputed by any means by any user due to the fact that emulators are not 100% accurate.

MATTS!

You can give it up:

Some clarification: The top centimeter or so is a screenshot of the final timer and the rest of the image is a screenshot of another point in the run.

Simple comparison of the number placement shows that MATTS!'s record is, in fact, doctored.

I have no knowledge of digit placement of the timer in btt mode, not enough to know that the numbers always line up. Perhaps the 0 in 07"53 pushes the 3 further to the right? Could you explain how is it that a stopwatch times it to about the same time?

Hey, did MATTS! maybe just take the video of JPleal's run and post it, then doctor the counter? Is there a strategy difference I'm not seeing?

There's no way you can refute the fact that the 53 on the top is NOT the same as the 53 on the bottom.

There is absolutely NO reason why the 5 and 3 would be spaced differently, regardless of the numbers before that.

You can't reliably stopwatch that for a couple reasons:

1) human limitation (just try to stop the video at 13"55. It's VERY difficult.)
2) YouTube cuts out frames on uploads... so I'd imagine there are skips of about 0'00"03-4 throughout the video, which makes it even harder to time correctly

Hell, the game runs at 60 fps, and while I can't be bothered to do the math, I seem to recall 1 frame equaling approximately 0'00"02, so this explains how MATTS! was able to conceal the numbers between 13"53 and 13"59 (except for the 13"55).

Also, he likely chose his final number of 3, because of its similarity to the real record's final number of 9 and the number before that (1, since it skips in increments of 0'00"02).

Or, I'm looking way too far into this as a way to procrastinate doing my Machine Design and Vibrations homework! :awesome:

FINAL THOUGHT:

Do you really think MATTS! could beat a well established TASer's world record without TAS?

Compare the two runs; they're exactly the same.
