What history does the current melee community have with brawl? How much have you played it? How many tourneys have you been to?

Personally, I played it when it first came out and liked it, but then I stopped and started playing melee. I have also never been to a brawl-only tournament and have never entered brawl at any hybrid tourneys.

This was my first post on SWF and here is another one from about week after that. As you can see, I initially expected to mainly be playing Brawl competitively, which I did for quite a while. IIRC, I didn't lose interest in Brawl until late 2008.

I went to 3 brawl tournaments with some old friends of mine (Squids, BJKamp) and the game was really boring and went back to melee. This was about a month after the release date.

I played from the release to like mid 09'. I went to two Brawl only tournaments (including one small Shuffle and Cut tournament that I got 1st in using Jigglypuff lol). Before, I really wanted that game to be good(or at least decent) but now that I've been going to more melee tournaments I couldn't be happier that it's a piece of crap game.

edit: Oscar knows about my Puff. Get at it! ;)

i stopped playing smash before brawl came out
my friend had a mod chipped wii so after it came out in japan i downloaded the iso and burned it so i could play it at his house
but he was kind of a ***** and wasn't down to play very often

i bought a wii sometime after brawl came out and played it a little on wifi but i was never into it that much
i went to one brawl only tournament (axis) where i went two and out with g&w
i've entered one, maybe two brawl tournaments since

when i lived in san jose my roommates were into it and i used to go on 20+ game winning streaks picking only random (i remember playing like 15 games a day for a week or so where i didn't lose)
3-4 player ffas with all the items on, i was so ****

Bought the Japanese Version when it came out. Went to Brawl tournies at around early summer to around like November. I think Connors Brawl tourney was my last one. (That was when Tyrant won his first tourney)

I loved brawl for about a 6-8 months. I really liked brawl because I was good at it at the time. I was ranked 9th in the SoCal PR at some point in 2008.

I'm probably going to start playing again. mainly as a way to take a break from melee and to hang out with some cool brawlers.

me and sheridan beat gishnak's team right after they beat sky and fiction

dragged those *****es back down a few notches!!!

though anyway, i was worse at barlw than i am at melee (which is pretty sad) and the norcal barlw community is 95% terrible people so i stopped playing

Lovage... Leepuff is definitely better than you, so I'd say you're 2nd best g&w on the west coast.

As for me, I suck at both. I started with Brawl tournaments, but I go back and fourth between the two games all the time. I think I've gotten a lot better at both this past year because I've been practicing consistently against decent competition, but I haven't entered a tourney since October so it's hard to tell how much I've improved.

Your Brawl skills (which you don't even use) earn you no respect with me. Iverson is really talented but I don't respect him as a player that much either.

probably on a platform
i'm probably the worst at brawl out of the melee players, i only really have fun playing with lucas and he gets ***** by everyone

i went to a crappy modesto melee/brawl thing once, never really went to a tourney for it though, quit smash, then came back and just played melee because it was the game i knew how to play and liked, then when i randomly played brawl with good people i hated it cause my characters suck/zhu could ftilt me with sheik 10 times

I'll give credit where credit is due. That's pretty sick that you can beat Larry with 0 practice, you probably are the best g&w. You should start playing more, even if it's just to take cash from noobs.

probably because you're a judgmental pseudo-intellectual
probably.

how old are you now, like 25, 30? i can understand the fact that lovage hasn't grown a bit because he's still young and has the privileges of a rich white male, but you should really start thinking about getting a life soon. If you keep at it like this, your life isn't going to look too pretty in 5 to 10 years.

Pseudo-intellectual is so horribly overused that it takes away from when it's actually apt. Too many people just use it as a go-to insult when they don't actually have a response to an argument, because dumb people need excuses not to feel dumb, and of course the usual way of doing that is rationalization and not actual thinking. Calling someone a pseudo-intellectual gets you out of having to provide a real argument, makes it look like you're one step ahead of the other guy, and lets other people also think that they aren't fooled by it - it's broken tier.

I'll probably start playing again since I'm getting my drivers license soon.
I couldn't find many brawl tournaments near 949 besides the occasional PnT lolstorecredit ones.
