Well melee came out 12 days earlier in Japan.
Sadly it was almost 6 months after the US release that it released in Europe.

Brawl will probably come out in Japan before US by a week or more.

Don't forget they released the Wii in America a few weeks before they did in Japan and they haven't even given a Japanese release date yet so that may not be. They'll probably say during the Tokyo Game Show.
Sad to say EU does again get the bad end of the stick ( Poor EU )....though the fact that US has a date yet all JP has is "TBA 2007" does make a few eyebrows perk up on the US release being BEFORE theres...Otherise WE would still have TBA and JP would have a set date...So I can't SEE JP getting it earler...but at the same time ( i.e. global lanuch ) is plasable...

so far america has the only confirmed date...dec. 3rd 2007.
jpn is yet to confirm a day as of yet but they will most likely get it a lil while after imo
melee has nothing to do with brawl... that was 6 yrs ago.....

I'm sure the release dates will be announced soon, at TGS they'll announce Japan's release date. At Leipzig they'll announce Europe's release date. Makes since doesn't it?
Edit: if somebody does get Brawl earlier than the US i'm not going on any gaming sites. Why I don't want to see any spoilers. But I may check to see if the ones I like made it. Would you guys want to see the final roster, i'm looking at you Europeans.

I don't care about spoilers. I was on this board while melee was released in the US, so that got completely spoiled to me, didn't make me enjoy it any less. Unlocking everything only took a day in melee anyway ('cept for mewtwo, got him the next day).. I'm not gonna refrain from surfing the net because my single day of fun might be 'ruined'.

im a lil screwed but not as bad as europe, im an american on a military base out here in germany, and we get american games a week or two late....
or i could preorder online, nut then it takes about a week to get here and i risk the chance of finding one in storesbefore my copy gets here, i guess ill just do that and give the preordered copy to my SSB loving friend that i always play with, but he doesnt have a wii yet

When's that Leizpig thing? I'd like to know when is Brawl coming out around here, and if I'm going to have to go on an homicidal rampage due to months-long Brawl deprivation or not.
And as for the spoilers... I think I'll watch the full roster, to make sure my wanteds got in, and then not look at how to get them. That way I motivate myself to beat everything in the game

I don't mind character spoilers as much as their move spoilers, maybe it is just me but the way the play is the really cool surprise.
Thanks for the info, man. Let's hope they say anything about it there. And that what they say doesn't imply Brawl coming out by May ¬¬. Come on, Nintendo, we Europeans love you too, don't let us down...
