As you all probably know, Brawl with be coming out on February 10th, 2008 (if not delayed again). With that date a few months away, I started to remember what had happened with Super Mario Galaxy.

The release date for SMG was Monday November 12th. Even so, many local retailers (even stores that did the pre-order thing) had delayed their release until one to three days after it came out. Even Gamestop was a day late.

Now, Brawl comes out on a sunday, which is usually not when many retailers get their products in. (that is, unless you live in a big city, say New York or Chicago)

My real question is, do you think that the same thing will happen to brawl? And also: does anybody know a good retailer that could supply the game on the official release date? I'm sure most of us cannot wait a few more days- February 10th is February 10th. The game needs to be played by then.

P.S. to the mods- sorry if this thread is to random and has to be locked (as you can tell i'm rather new to the site.)

I live in Portland, which is a fairly large city... I do hope that they actually get it in when they say... I've never had a problem though, I think I remember picking up Twilight Princess (GCN) the day that it came out, I just had to wait for the FedEx guy to drop it off.

I live in New York and for some reason all the stores keep the ganes in no matter what day they got them and put them on shelves until Tuesday.

They did say that some stores (specifically with SMG) would get it in a couple days late (maybe due to the collector's coin?). if they have a collector's item with brawl it too may be delayed a couple days with full warning.

My gamestop had Mario Galaxy on the launch date. I live in Manhattan, Kansas, which isn't particularly large (We just got an IHOP, and people worship our Best Buy)

Super Mario Galaxy was ship-dated. The 12th was the game it actually shipped out to stores and online customers, therefore the only stores that got it that day were the ones that had intentionally gone out of there way to ensure same day delivery, most others got it on the 13th.

Brawl, however, is street dated. That means it will be shipped early, but not sold until the 10th. (Example: Halo 3 shipped about a week before the 25th of September, but Mario Party DS actually got sent out on the 19th, it's release date. thats the difference between a ship date and a street date.)

^ He's got it. Galaxy:ship date Brawl:Street date

For reference, if the game's date is Monday, you'll get it Teusday. If the date is Sunday, you'll get it Sunday. With Nintendo of course.

Yeah, I work at Gamestop, and on our pre-order list, it says 2/10/08, but in parenthesis next to it, it says ship date 2/05/08 or 2/07/08, I can't remember.

Yay, question answered! I was going to say something along those lines, but it was outlined rather nicely.

A fair question to ask though, to be sure.

brawl1994. some stores get it early and cant sell it untill the actual date if im rite dmstudios. some stores do not listen to that rule. like example i think nbalive 2008 came out oct. 4 but my dad got it on the 2nd. my best advice for getting a game early is dont get it from e.b. games or a gamestop.:)
