As we all know when playing online and you get disconnected a computer replaces you.But what we don't know is what level the computer is.
Mabye to get higher leveled computer replacing you need to get a better 'RANK' from winning battles.

They more battles you win the higher the level of the computer is.This is to show good you are at the game to other players even if your disconnected.

Is this possible?

I doubt it. It will probably see what your opponent does or how aggresive he/she is and then calculate a possible level for the computer.

Rankings will still remain non-existant, and even if it were like you think it may be how are you going to know what rank you are?

in melee i could notice a lvl most of the time becuase of what different actions they use but being disconnected means we wont find out, however when disconnected no one else knows so if you have a lvl 1 playing thats gonna hurt your rep on online mode.

i think maybe the computer lvl will be set based on your score up until that point. if you are just even, maybe they will put a lvl 5 or 6. If you were dominating with like 6 kills and 1 death, lvl 9 maybe

they'll need some sort of ranking. i mean think about it. how much fun can playing some 10 year old who doesn't know what he's doing over and over and over? i mean if they really want to enhance online play, they'll need to come up with some sort of system (not unlike halo 2's) to really make it fun.

You won't even have a rep. Names won't be shown on wifi (except for friends). If you disconnect you have nothing to worry about.

I would liek that so long as exiting out of a match counts as a loss

However...
there is the possiblity it was due to lag, so how would that work?
I would think that if it became more like habbit, I suppose, exiting like 10 times in a short span or somthing. Perhaps you figure that if you had a laggy internet connection you would turn it off and try agan later.

They could also mention that in the booklet, so everyone knows about it (not like many people read the booklet...*sigh*)

Apparently it will have a background scoring system that will not be shown to us (like the Pokemon game, another person on the boards said).

It will match your opponent based on your score, so you generally play people in your skill level. I figure it will base the computer level off of that. The better you are, the better the computer player will be.

People playing onlin should be good enough to beat a lvl 9 computer, no need to change its level according to skill

If you cant beat lvl 9 AI, go train before going online

If they buff the AI I might not be able to beat level 9 AI :/

i'm tafutureboy and i support online rankings...........not

GH3 had it, but just because your a higher rank doesnt mean your better........you could get a win from items or FS...i think it'd be a little pointless.....but i'm happy with Wi-fi..

if theres a leader board i really wouldnt care

A Ranking system would sound good on paper, but would be exploited with cheaters that would either kill themselves over there multiple systems to achieve unfair amount of points,or have their friends stand there and die so they can be #1.Iam surprized at the amounts of people in here who clearly havent played Socom(series),Tekken DR online,MGSO for a few examples. Those games have ranking systems too but its corrupted all to hell.It would do this game very well NOT to have a system at all due to that factor..Sakurai's a smart man..

Oh,you'd be surprized bro, very surprized :) Some people out there can just go by a Gameshark to unlock Krystal(if shes in) butt a$$ naked if they wanted to.Character achievements has very little desire to thos that wanna cheat and be #1.What better way to do that than GS'ing on day 1 + with characters unlocked? I think its ******** to cheat in any game period, but thats not to say others will follow my moto. But you know, thats the primary reason why Iam not logging on the 1st week at the very least because I dont wanna get spoiled by some moron that didnt wanna take the time to see Geno(for ex.)

Its ture now tho without a ranking system currently they would be fools to log online 1st day unless they were testing connections and so forth..Iam just stating rank would be flawed from the getgo due to my past expericence with online gaming ranking systems.

The chance of leaderboards is basically zero. As for hidden rankings, it's not impossible but they sure don't want us to think that. I wouldn't get your hopes up. I'm sure they wouldn't do it just to avoid replacing a crap player with a level 9 bot, so it's a question of whether or not they think skill-based matchmaking is important enough.

See tho, thats the thing. With the Wii friends code system(reguardless how dumb it is),you can have the opportunities to select the opponents that are weaker..at your skill level or(like me,lol) search for the ones that are stronger than you in order to better yourself in combat.Chances are,Nintendo knowing that fact are gonna stick to the friend codes system for a while.

We'll have a ranking system at Smash Brawl Ranking. There are a lot of concerns when doing something like this, but it is definitely possible to make it work. Anyway, I'm just glad that there are friend codes, at least, because it opened up the possibility of something like this.
