Mmkay, so hi y'all.
There's been a project on the Smash Workshop forum that I've been watching for a time.
"Brawl 64 - Back to Basics"

It's kind of a coincidence, both of the Brawl 64 and the Smash 64 Remake thread are active.

I decided to create this thread as a "Backroom" for the Brawl 64 project, since most of the brawlnoobs who post in there have no clue about Smash 64.

Personally, I think this project could be really interesting. Let's just discuss it in here instead of argueing with the brawl noobs, and when we all confirm on a point, we can post it in the Brawl 64 original thread.

Read the thread first, and start discussing :

I read the first page a while back, then stopped. 'Balance was screwed' annoyed me.

I think some crap about only Ness being able to recover was highlighted and attacked vigorously.

I think we can all agree that TheSilenceOfNoOne is the dumbest poster in that thread. He thinks Ness has the best recovery, when it's actually the complete opposite. What a joke.

A proper post:

Additions are obvious: hitstun comes to mind without any consideration. The harder part is what to take away:

Grabbing ledges while facing away
Edge sweetspot
Wall jumps
Roof/wall techs
Air dodge
Footstool Jump

Honestly, I'd feel better working from Brawl+ as the template.

Most people in both threads are clamouring for the addition of characters. I say keep all the characters in Brawl but take away Side-Bs. This might be a bit silly, but I'm just used to reversing Neut-B moves without pulling out Side-B moves.

Stage additions are obvious, but they HAVE to remake Peach's Castle, Hyrule and Saffron, possibly Mush Kingdom too - these stages are part of what made SSB64 great for me - and with stage editor and texture hacks, it shouldn't be too hard. Of course, FD and Battlefield should be there, maybe Metal Mario's house too.

I really like this idea. If everything works out (and I hope it does), I'll be sure to check out the final result.

I agree with cheeseball, it would make more sense to start the project with the brawl+ codes.

I just want falcon to be falcon so I can have fun with brawl hax
Haha. Falcon is so nerfed in Brawl. O well.
Differences between Brawl and SSB64 Falcon are :

* Faster Falcon Punch
* No Raptor Boost
* Air Falcon kick can be done a bit lower in the air without landing with the lag
* Up+B is lower
* Up+B has a more powerful knockback
* Nipple Spike replaced with simple spike (no meteor smash)
* Knee (Forward Air) is now his Brawl Nair
* Nair (now the forward air) is a sex kick
* Uair has a vertical knockback, which is diagonal in SSBM and SSBB.
* Bair is stronger
* Upsmash is a single hit upwards
* Downsmash is similar to Samus's but weaker and doesn't have any reverse knockback
* Forwardsmash is a kick forward, knockback similar to the fire elbow.

This is why falcon is so good in ssb64

Problem is, we really don't much data or anything, so if you wanted it to behave exactly like Smash64, its not really possible. Similar, yeah, but the same?

Is it possible to completely change moves with hacks, for example Yoshi's utilt or Pika's bair?

I have been trying to make Barwl 64 using the available codes out there (like S.Cancel, Hit Stun, Shield Stun) but I'm still missing stuff like no air-dodge(anytime, not only during tumble) and no sidestep dodge, the last one being the most important because without it we could be able to do shield through platforms xP.

Here is a little sample of my Barwl 64 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z1e0GlCx8_0
