It looks like things are back to normal, somewhat. So I'm here again.
Cloud seems kinda polarizing, from what I've seen. People either like him or hate him.

That's basically how it is, plain and simple. I went to the news page announcing him. The majority is salt. Even I'm a little salty about his reveal, I'm just really hoping he will be worth it and I can put this in the past.

I remember when the full roster was revealed.

"sigh" some people get so attached to the characters they want that the poor man gets tons of insults and crap said about him as if he was some kind of criminal. It's ridiculous. Yet Another reason why I only peak my head in on occasion to speculate nowadays.

I think I can answer that: He's the FF character. Much like how Ryu represents Street Fighter, he represents Final Fantasy.
And despite it not being a Nintendo game, FF7 is one of the most acclaimed video games out there. Up with the likes of OoT and SMB3.

Judging by the fact that the ballot was nowhere to be heard, and that characters do take time. I'm assuming this was all pre-ballot. I know some people are skeptical with it, but to be honest it makes sense.

Then the Ballot is probably going to be the main focus for the December Direct.

I'm positive that Cloud is pre-ballot. The ballot only ended about a month ago and they seemed to have put a lot of work and thought into Cloud. Heck even his stage looks amazing. Ballot results will definitely be revealed or at least hinted in December. God, so hyped for that~ Rayman please

This is something the companies must have negotiated with and decided on themselves long ago, with no involvement of the ballot.

It isn't the first time Square Enix drops a Final Fantasy character in a Nintendo game, so that makes sense.
