This isn't a debate about should she be in or not... this is more what her symbol should be, should it be the mushroom from Mario or Yoshi's egg..

I Believe: Yoshi's Egg

Why?

1) Without her the only other character to have Yoshi symbol is Kamek.

2) She is confirmed to be partner with Yoshi, in Mario Tennis.

Nobody ever believes me when I say Birdo is cool.
They always think I'm joking about him.
It sucks.

Um... Birdo only appeared in Super Mario Bros. 2. (Yoshi didn't!) Don't let the sports/party games throw you off.

Birdo has been a teamate recently with yoshi, the sport/party games are like the only mario games anymore theres like one traditonal mario per console. Yes birdo should be in brawl and would make a good partner for yoshi. Also Birdo and yoshi are very simliar species so it makes sense they should share the same logo.

All similar species need the same logo. Cpt. Falcon's shares Mario's, INDEFINETLY DUE TO YOUR LOGiC.

They're teammates in filler games with sports/party games that are suddenly....MARIO GAMES!!!!

YES!!! Birdo is for Brawl even after being a filler, much like TOAD!!!

Blah.

Toad's background is similar to Birdo, and Daisy. Fillers that have each respectively had their own ONE game, which for an odd reason have large fanbases. One bad thing about Toad...IS THAT HE'S GENERIC! That's correct. Plus, if anyone argues about Kinocchio, they can't talk about the "success of the generic Toad Species.

What the hell are you talking about? Toad is one of the few NON FILLER characters that could have been added.

Still, only the REAL Mario games count, and there's been plenty of them. Not just the one Mario game on the home consoles, but also the many games on the DS/GBA. Birdo has done nothing for the series really, other than adding another playable character in Mario Tennis. Which isn't much when there are more important characters like Toad, and dare I say Bowser Jr. (don't worry, I hate him too. :p)

If Birdo somehow made it, putting him/her/whatever under Yoshi's icon is a totally absurd idea.Yoshi's icon represents HIS series of games (probably Yoshi's Island/Story) and Birdo does not appear in those games at all. It'd be like putting Waluigi with Wario's icon.

Birdo is badass. I support your support for him (though I'm sure he's not in Brawl).

wait i'm confused I thought Birdo was a girl :dizzy: but anyway Birdo is indeed from Mario, but I believe she should rep. Yoshi's symbol in seeing that they are togrther in Mario Party+Tennis, so yea I support Birdo for an AT I guess

birdo is a girl, ignore the stupid rumors. It wouldn't make sense for a guy to be with yoshi. The birdo who thinks he a guy you KILL in smb2 stays dead, the one with yoshi=female, not trans.

Ok, shut up. You're not funny.

Actually I believe the SMB2 manuel (From what I've heard) said she was a transsexual.

Birdo is a transvestite, DUH!
Yup.

"In Birdo's biography of the Super Mario Bros. 2 instruction booklet, it reads "He thinks he's a girl and he spits eggs from his mouth. He'd rather be called Birdetta." Contrary to popular belief, this is not the result of a poor translation. In Japan, [Birdo] was always male, despite the feminine name ("Catherine"). Nintendo of America later censored Birdo to female to avoid potential controversy. Recently, in the Mario Strikers Charged official website, Birdo is again referred to as "he". Despite this, many gamers categorize Birdo as the first full Male to Female transsexual in the video game universe."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Birdo#Birdo

And if you check the UK Mario Strikers Charged website, it does indeed say "he". I checked the US website first, but it seemed to avoid using "he" or "she" completely.

The short version is: Birdo's a boy; he thinks he is/wants to be/pretends to be a girl.

I don't know where you got that idea, but Birdo IS a guy...

It says in the original manuel and the recent sports games

1.Wikipedia is full of rumors and other ****, very inaccurate.
2.Mario Strikers Charged doesn't even feature birdo as a character all the birdo there are anyoumous.
3.Refer to my post again,*******.
4. Why do think that was for Strikers Charged, they obviously wouldn't call the real birdo who with yoshi a guy.

Birdo is still a guy and the sports games aren't canon anyway

1. Wikipedia isn't always 100% accurate, but I've seen this same information in other places. If you look on the actual wiki page I linked to, the person who wrote Birdo's profile gave a number of sources.
2. The fact remains that he's referred to as a "he" in the game, and he's seen comforting Yoshi when a point is scored on his team (rubbing his back while Yoshi's looking down at the ground, holding his face). The fact is that it is now more implied that he's a boy than a girl, though yes, there are multiple Birdos.
3. No need to be uncivil. I don't think calling me a censored word was necessary.
4. I think you're a tad homophobic. There's nothing stopping "The Birdo" from being a guy.

THe reson why Birdo wasn't referred to as a girl, neither boy in English, is due to the fact that homos have been looked down upon (I look down upon them, ESPECIALLY). I mean, such astranged celebrities as Rosie O'Donnel, Ryan Seacrest, and Ellen Degenerate, have been made fun of. Nintendo would fear that kids wouldn't buy the game because of that. This is nothing more than conjecture, though.

Find me article on newer mario games featuring birdo besides MSC, than I'll believe you.

hmm.. this is indeed interesting to see, I now know he a transsexual male wanting to be a guy, and all this time (10 years) I though "he" was a "she" and never thought anything about transsexuality since I seen "him" alongside Yoshi in Mario Party and Tennis , but wait does this mean "he" likes Yoshi? either as a friend? or lover?

Birdo and Yoshi are alike. Mario and Luigi are alike. Ergo, they were partners. I mean, that was probably the logic of the empty-headed guy who made Mario Tennis 64.

To be honest, I think MSC is the first game to start referring to Birdo as a male again. I've looked for other games that suggest it, but there don't seem to be others yet.

I understand your skepticism. But I've given at least one source that's relatively reputable implying Birdo's a boy, and I haven't seen any more recent sources telling me he's a girl (all the ones that do are older than MSC, and according to wiki, have been altered from their original Japanese wording). So I'll believe he's a boy until Nintendo decides to backtrack again (if it ever does).

Maybe Sakurai will be a dear and confirm Birdo as an AT for us and we can base a more accurate conclusion on the pronouns he uses for Birdo.

Good question. There have been slight implications to suggest Yoshi and Birdo are together, but nothing made explicitly clear. It's not as obvious as, say, Mario and Peach. I doubt Nintendo plans on making their relationship too deep.

You mean as a character and prove birdo is a girl, but I'll shut up and wait patiently.:chuckle:
When sakurai announces birdo then we'll see whos truly right.

Fair enough.

As for Birdo's fate in Brawl, I'm still thinking AT. I'd be okay with Birdo as a PC, but I find it unlikely if Toad isn't even going to be a PC (I would think Toad would be ahead of Birdo in line from the Mario universe).

Toad hasn't ever shown any combat skill ,has he?(I haven't played mario in while so I wouldn't know)Birdo could use her/his egg spit paired with some other yoshi-like not yoshi clone moves.
