Overall Game Features:

Single Player Campaign

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BioShock_2

Set on New Year's Eve of 1970, ten years after the events of BioShock, Rapture is now under the control of a woman named Sofia Lamb, whose ideas of human progression contrasts with the city's deceased founder, Andrew Ryan. While Ryan believed in the genius of the individual, Lamb believes in collective effort and the power of the community, as well as a philosophy surrounding butterfly imagery, indicating some kind of rebirth. This message is spread by a deranged ex-priest named Father Wales, who has created a cult-like religion around Sofia. During Sofia's rule, a mysterious figure known as the Big Sister, an ex-little sister outfitted with Big Daddy armor, harbored herself in Rapture, capturing little girls across the coastline to turn them into Little Sisters.
Multiplayer

BioShock 2 will feature a story driven Multiplayer mode where the player takes on the role of a citizen of Rapture. Set in 1959 (one year before the events of BioShock), the player chooses to take on the role of a splicer fighting in Rapture's Civil War. The player is being sponsored by Plasmid manufacturer, Sinclair Solutions, to test out their weapons, Plasmids, and Tonics in a consumer reward program. As you progress through the multiplayer experience your character will unlock new weapons and Plasmids, provided by Sinclair, as well as progress the story of the Rapture Civil War.

The player can choose between 6 characters to be their in-game avatar. The characters are: a welder named Jacob Norris, a housewife named Barbara Johnson, a football star named Danny Wilkins, a businessman named Buck Raleigh, a pilot named Naledi Atkins, and an Indian mystic named Suresh Sheti. Two additional characters are available only by pre-ordering the game from 12game, GameStop, EB Games or Game: a fisherman named Zigo d'Acosta and an actress named Mlle Blanche de Glace
Multiplayer will come in 5 different modes, two of which have a single and team based mode.

The modes are:

* Survival of the Fittest: A 'free-for-all' mode where each player gets points for killing each of the other players.

Whichever player has the most kills at the end of the match wins.

* Civil War: Similar to 'Survival of the Fittest,' but in this mode players are divided into two teams and the team with the most collective kills at the end of the match wins.

* Last Splicer Standing: A variation of 'Survival of the Fittest' where the player does not respawn after being killed. The last player alive at the end of the match is the winner.

* Capture the Sister: A 'Capture the Flag' style mode where players are divided into two teams. One team has to protect a Little Sister while the other team tries to steal her and place her in a vent on the other side of the map. After a pre-determined amount of time, the teams switch roles. Whichever team has the most captures at the end of the match wins.

* ADAM Grab: In this mode there is one Little Sister on the map and the player must seek her out and maintain possession of her as long as possible. Whoever has held onto the Sister longest at the end of the match wins.

* Team ADAM Grab: A variant of 'ADAM Grab' where players are divided into two teams. The objective is the same, but victory is determined by a collective score rather than individual scores.

* Turf War: Players are split into two teams and each team must reach pre-determined points on the map to capture that point. The team with the most control points over the longest time wins.

In all modes except 'Capture the Sister' a Big Daddy suit will spawn at a random location in the level. If a player can find the suit, the choice is given to become the Big Daddy, which will give the player greater strength and endurance, but prohibits the use of plasmids. Once the Big Daddy is defeated, the suit disappears and is moved to another location on the map. In 'Capture the Sister' one member of the defending team is chosen at Random to be the Big Daddy.

I felt this needed it's own individual thread.

And this thread is currently in progress. Some things I have to do is to find smaller images or resize then do some other stuff. Also, you can see that I basically copied the format/templete from the MW2 thread.

It'll be just as pretty as MW2. I have it pre-ordered too, so I get some extra multiplayer characters.

Eww I'm getting it for Xbox. It'll be much better, graphics-wise. I don't have any HD cables for my PS3 yet.

HA!

Man, I am so pumped for this game. I hope that they didn't slack in the story and single-player department because it has multi-player now (ATTENTION DEVELPERS: NOT EVERY GAME NEEDS MULTIPLAYER, THANK YOU).

What's funny about that? Anyway, I'm sure 2K still did a great job with the Campaign, of course.

BioShock is the ONLY game I don't play for the Multiplayer. I honestly haven't even started MW2's Campaign, and it took me 2 years to start CoD4's, and only because of a $50 bet between 3 people to see who could finish it on Veteran first.

I plan on borrowing BS1 from a friend, beating it, and then picking up BS2 sometime later this year.

Oh and great job on the thread F8AL.

Bioshock 1 was amazing too. Only thing I didn't like, was the ending. Stopped a wee bit too short for my liking. I highly recommend you pick it up :)

I love Bioshock, but I'll probably get this, and Bioshock, for PS3. The experience was great on PC, but there will be no mods, so a console environment just seems better.

I have low expectations for the game's multiplayer mode. However, I am excited to continue the story where Bioshock 1 originally left off.

Can't wait! 2 more days!

Yeah, I think the Multiplayer will be highly based off the Characters/Guns. Or one with the Big Daddy suit becomes automatic winner. I could be wrong, of course. I'd like to see more Side-Missions in the sequel though. After you beat the original (got all acheivments, etc) it was over. It kinda stopped short. I don't want that to happen again.

I haven't played Bioshock 1 for a while, wasn't the ending bad? (like Halo 2 and MW2)
OMG I just finished MW2 a couple of days ago and talk about a disappointment! Okay we managed to kill you know who but what happens after that??? The world is still in peril! Why stop the game now?

But to stay on topic, I don't really care how bad the ending of BS1 is as long as the story is good. Is BS2 a prequel or sequel? :dizzy:

EDIT: never mind it's a sequel

Sequel. It takes place 10 years after Bioshock 1.

The ending wasn't bad. The final boss did suck though :/

I enjoyed the ending. There just wasn't much to do afterwards.

@ Icy and Werekill

Oops my bad. I agree with you that the last boss sucked but the ending was pretty good. (I saved all the little sisters, so I got the good ending)

Just picked up Bioshock for PS3 for $17. I'll make my way through this then get Bioshock 2. What version is everyone getting - PS3, 360, or PC?

That reminds me, I should eventually get it for ps3. Its definitely worth a replay, and I'm curious as to how it feels on a controller instead of a keyboard and mouse.

I'm going to get it on ps3, but I could get it for pc if I get really impatient while saving for my ps3.

MUST... GET... BIOSHOCK!!!

No seriously, I got interested in the game during the first mention, and got upset when I realized that It was M for mature. I am definitely getting these games, no matter what.

Yeah, there's usually a good amount of blood and gore in these games. Almost (if not) as bad as Gears. It's really scary at some points too! In Bioshock, you're in a Medical Pavilion in a dentist office. You grab a Audio Diary and some other goodies, then a bunch of fog comes in the room, eliminating any vision. It clears, you turn around, theres a nice splicer standing RIGHT behind you. Scared me ****less.

Bioshock 1 had scary parts? Huh, never noticed. And even though I had all of the powerful weapons in the game, I still used the crowbar. :p

1: Well, outside the occasional guy popping out of nowhere (even to sneak up behind you), not really no.

2: It's a wrench, not a crowbar.

The main scary bits were really freaky plot twists, like in
Ryan's office.
The rest of the game wasn't really freaky, but it was pretty unsettling during a lot of it.

And its a wrench, not a crowbar. However, that's an easy mistake if you've played Half-Life 2 a lot. :p

I was interested in the first but never got around to it. I really like the idea for the multiplayer on this a lot, so I'll probably get the first somewhere, then get 2 a bit later.

Hopefully I can get the first Bioshock tomorrow (another foot of snow, and a possible power outage coming up, being able to play without people becomes priority, and Bioshock has that)

Maybe I can add Bioshock 2, maybe.

Either way, I am probably sticking to the guns (as in primarily using a couple of guns), May even write a guide on that sooner or later...

Yeah, I'd highly recommend the first one (and hopefully the second). Just remember, there's no Snipers. The closest thing would be a Crossbow.
