Biggest Disappointment: Yasunori Mitsuda?

Ages ago, Sakurai teased us with the update of musicians including Yasunori Mitsuda. (Chrono Trigger/Xenosaga).

This led to the endless possibilities for Brawl's awesomeness. Chrono content (especially a time-travelling stage i.e. lavos fight) would have been excellent. The characters from CT were possibly the most-demanded characters aside from those who were actually included (or geno, who, after all, is uniquely lame. "i serve... a higher authority"? really? that sad mantra is worthy of inclusion in 5 billion signatures?)

But even the music? We got an update saying music from games whose characters were eschewed would be included. Us elder nintendo players, recalling the days of SNES RPG, could surely bank on at least Chrono Music, right?

After all, Chrono trigger is THE most commonly remixed video game (www.ocremix.org) of all time. Clearly this soundtrack is a MASSIVE fan favorite.

and then...

Pikmin? They squandered the genius of Yasunori Mitsuda on PIKMIN? *dies*

That's like announcing that Noubu Uematsu would contribute music, and, rather than any FF content, you found he arranged the music for a Rayman stage.

Also, I guess this is my place to b**** my personal opinions ... Vyse> Pikmin, Lyndis>Ike, Chrono>>>Wolf, Boo>Dedede, Banjo/Kazooie>Lucas.

It's like the developers never read a fan forum. Alternate costumes being called "new characters" FTL. (starfox effect, ganon/falcon still linked) What were they THINKING?!

But in the end, we should be grateful. There's no Cloud/Sephiroth T1 noobtreats. Now stop reading and go rip an ISO!

Alternate costumes as new characters? What are you talking about? Did I miss a memo somewhere?

To be honestly, I truly wanted Crono as well. As soon as I saw Mitsuda in the list of composers, I was so excited for the possibility of playing as Crono.

But of course, licensing issues and such. Go figure. I still can't wait for this god**** game.

I was thinking "Fox, Falco, Wolf," but then I found a wolf gameplay video. Retracted.

Course we wouldn't have to rely on gameplay videos if someone would RIP THE ISO. *clears throat* right then.

Amen, truegrey

Amen

Do you think the other composers laughed at Mitsuda at the water cooler? Sad...

Mitsuda only did a single piece of Pikmin music? That really is a tragedy... The person who did Time Scar should be allowed to more then a meer Pikmin piece...
To be fair, they let him do TWO pieces of Pikmin music....

Did anyone unlock the complete list of music? I surely hope that Yasunori Mitsuda did something more then Pikmin music. :< Although you can compare Pikmin music to some of Chrono Cross music, some of the tunes in Chrono Cross are quite relaxing and lowkey.

Oh well, I was hoping for something a bit more on the "World Revolution" scale but I did enjoy the Pikmin music a lot. Here's to hoping for something more.

You know... all i know is that he wrote 2 pikmin songs, not that he didn't do anything else. There could be more, I suppose.

Anyone know if all the music has been officially unlocked yet? That would make my day...

even make up for the lack of ISO. If you've got the game in Japan, think of your poor smash-starved american counterparts swimming in an...*clears throat* empty bay.

I agree with some of your points, however I don't think it's necessary to bash other franchises simply because you're angry that CT music didn't get in the game.
Mitsuda did an amazing job on the Pikmin music, in my opinion. It would have been nice to hear CT music, but I'm definitely happy with how the Pikmin song was arranged. It's one of my faves in the game so far.

We don't know all the OST. Maybe Mitsuda has another track.

And Sakurai said that the composers chose their favourite music. So if you have something about him liking Pikmin music, raid his blog or something.

Well yes - the brawl versions of pikmin are awesome, thanks to Yasunori, but that's like pointing out that Rembrandt did a great job face painting at a birthday party. (I was gonna say Picasso, but he'd prolly just put your eye out.)

I'm not bashing the pikmin series, but it isn't exactly known for it's music, is it. No one has EVER put up an OCremix for it, yet nintendo pulls out the big guns to get it just right.

I hear they're having Michaelangelo doing balloon animals at their next fundraiser.

They didn't have Mitsuda do anything. Sakurai asked him "Hey, pick one music you like and remix it", "Sure, I'll pick this one from Pikmin, who reminds me of my work in Hako no Niwa, a garden related game", "Oh, nice". They won't put a gun in his head and tell him to hire a ****ing orchestra to arrange the Main theme of Zelda if he didn't want to.

You're simply disappointed with Mitsuda tastes and preferences, don't turn this into another bashing thread. Plus, there may be another remix of his around there.

Heck yes. More Chrono fans is what we need in here :p.

I'll be really sad if there's no Chrono music (stages are welcome too).
We'll find out when the entire soundtrack is released :D
