My friend plays a ruthless Pikachu, complete with chaingrabs and insane edgeguard. I've noticed Nairs can do a LOT of damage and are great for KO's.

Here are tips:

-Avoid using Snake's cypher for recovery. Firstly, if Pika grabs you during your cypher, you're dead as after cyphering, you can't jump anymore

-Be prepared to airdodge like hell when he thunders

-Don't get grabbed at low percents. This leads to a chaingrab, which leads to edgeguard, which leads to a really easy kill.

-U-tilt into D-Tilt, this can do some great damage. Use F-Tilt wisely. A good Pika will grab you right away if you miss.

I've actually been doing all of those. The problem i've been having the the electricity bolts pikachu spams me with. Its diffictult to get out of with snake. I'm often times shield grenading and rolling backwards to avoid them. Then I find myself on the edge. Pikachu is annoying.

PS the jolts, throw grenades from a distance and try to cook them, and I think a regular Dash attack clanks/beats out the jolt so you could do that to close the distance.

For recovering, don't go too high or too low (I know that sounds ridiculous but trust me try to find the perfect height.) Airdodge thunder and, other than that, there's not much you can do.

Don't go Tilt crazy at lower %'s, if you do need to use them a lot then space them very well and mix it up some. Your ground game is better than his, just watch for his smashes and maybe some of the tilts. If you do get grabbed, try to break free from the starting grab really fast. Most of the time, they accidentally do a grab jab instead of immediately doing the throw, and it gives you more time to escape. I think you can also escape if you can pull a grenade out, so that might be worth a shot.

Lay the field with explosives if you can to try and discourage Pika from QACing everywhere. If you can, also pick a cramped stage without platforms; it makes it harder for Pika to get the time to do QAC and it gives him less safety room if you have C4, Mine, and grenades all over the place.

Hope this helps :)

the only problem i'm having is the thunder bolts he throws at me all the time.
It sets me up for a smash. I try to cook grenades, but I end up still getting hit by the bolts

Grenades vs Pikachu? What?

Here's what you do. Get a percentage lead. Walk away. Wait for Pikachu to come to you. At first he won't come, so just powershield his pika jolts. Then he will be forced to come to you. Then punish him because Pikachu can't approach Snake.

Wait, Jesiah, Pikachu can't approach Snake? What are you talking about. He doesn't need to approach him, he just needs to grab him. With his incredible grab range and chaingrab, there is no need for a traditional approach. Getting a percentage lead against Pika is a very hard thing to do. What I suggest is save you U-Tilt. Once he's at 110%ish, use your Up tilt and it will kill for sure.

The only projectile that Pika has is very weak, so all the strong ones are non-projectiles which gives you an advantage! Try grenade cooking, (and a lot of it) but also try c4s cuz he's obviously gonna need to approach you to do any real damage. Keep your space, but if you can't c4's, and your far-reaching kicks and punches. (I hope that made sense to you lol.)

getting a lead against pika isn't hard at all. Your Ftilt outranges everything Pikachu has.
But if you miss, he can manage to land an F-Smash on you, which really hurts. It's not hard to be grabbed by Pikachu at all as most Pikachu players space themselves well. Juggling is a great option, start with a downtilt, then go into an up tilt and then use aerials.

Pika's chain grab is INCREDIBLY deadly and allows him to make great comebacks. He can also juggle Snake pretty well then pwn his recovery by grabbing him.
